Just curious, what does the GS500 sound like?

Is it a smooth note which turns into a growl like the Superbikes, or the rhythmic beating sound like the 4-stroke Off-road bikes.

SORRY...........but I have never seen a GS or heard one. Only seen it on the Internet.

Trying to buy one as soon as possible..........

well stock it sounds like a tricked out lawn mower or what i heard. i suggest, if you want a nice growl, get a cobra slip-on. if you want a nice growl and a little bit more power get a full system.

You can check at http://grapeape.specialgreen.com/snd/ for a couple of sound samples (stocker exhaust can versus the Cobra F1r).  But it's hard to hear through PC speakers what this really sounds like, unless I were to add recordings of a well-known bike or two (gixxer, ninja500, sherpa) there as well.  Sounds like a fun way to pass the evening at the local biker hangout, but will have to wait until next summer.

stock they sound like a mellow sewing machine. with a pipe they sound like... I donno a GS500?

mine with the drilled exhaust can sounds like a sewing machine with testicles :mrgreen: at wide open, kinda like a sewing machine on steroids pissed off

Keep in mind that's with an aftermarket exhaust, but you'll get the idea. I kinda like the sound of my GS even though it just has the stock exhaust. Especially how it sounds from about 7-8k to redline

Well there is a lot of trashing the GS's sound mostly by GS owners...
The GS sounds exactly like a 4 cyl (Old school GSXR) with 1 coil disconnected... why... because it is...
The other similar competetion to the GS namely the EX sounds like a 4 cyl Kawi like a ZX10 with 1 coil disconnected... running in reverse... Why... because it is...
Yea The GS sounds bad only till you do one of
1. You put a pipe on it...
2. You fit K&N pods on it...
3. Drill great big holes in the pipe...
4. Listen to an EX500....

With the Yosh mine kinda sounds like an a quite, high-revving Harley. If I put around in the low end it's very convincing but once I pass 7000 RPM the gig is up

Once I got the Cobra f1R on, it sounded bad ass. I love the way my GS sounds!
