My 99 GS came with a kickstand, not the standard centerstand. I'm looking into putting a centerstand back on but I THINK the after-market exhaust might interfere with where the centerstand sits/mounts underneath the bike.

What does the centerstand attach to on the bottom?
What does it rest agaist when up?
How's the clearance?

You're gonna have to weld a stopper on the exhaust to keep the center stand from touching the bottom part of the chain.  There is zero clearance without the stopper.  Or you can do like i did and rig up a stopper on the bottom of the shock mount.  I suggest doing it right and getting a stopper welded on the exhaust tho.

There are lugs underneath the frame rails, straight down from the seat, if you trace the verticle part of the main frame rails down under the bike.  With the stock exhaust there is a rubber bumper that keeps the centerstand from interfering with the chain.

You'd have to lean the bike pretty far to touch the centerstand down.

2 up with a stock shock, I'm pretty much guaranteed to touch down.

With my 28K miles on the stock shock and my 180lbs, I can touch it down about the same time as the case savers touch/drag.

So...I took 'em both off.

no offense but why would you want to add the center stand back on if its off?  my 96 doesnt have the center stand but the side works just fine.   I can see spending $45 +shipping on something so much better for the bike.

On the old bike I used it so much, from long-term parking to lubing the chain to any kind of wheel maintenance and cleaning to checking the oil level.  So when my new one came without the centerstand, I bought another and put it on. 

It's one of the features I really like about the GS that many other bikes don't have anymore. 

why put on a centre stand, big ugly and always in the way.  just get a regular spool stand

I took my centerstand off when I put on my aftermarket exhaust, becuase it didn't have a bump stop. I just put it back on without the springs whenever I want to do any work that requires it. Works well for me.
