Hi everyone... I guess I couldn't read it properly, but after reading the posts from the FAQ board and the GSwiki, I ordered 194 size bulbs and replaced my Speedo and Tach lights with them. But... they don't fit in the housing for the dash (Oil Light, Neutral Indicator, Turn Signals, Brights)... What am I doing wrong? I have 4 extra bulbs now  and I don't know what parts to order off of supberbrightled.com. Any suggestions? The order form isn't necessarily 'LED n00b friendly". Thanks in advance!

To clarify, I ordered WLED-6 (194) wedge base bulbs. 2 green, 1 red, 1 blue. My gauges now glow a cool dark red though.  :thumb:

04+ gs500 use smaller bulbs, 74 led. i would suggest u return the spare bulbs to superbrightleds.com and get the right ones. i would keep the green 198 for the turn signal since the 74 wont work. all you have to do it shave down the connectors until they fit, it wont fit all the way back in the housing tho so wrap it in some electrical tape. as for the other indicators type in 74 in the search bar here http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?product=CAR
its going to be the last one on the page "74 Wedge Base LED bulb " for $1.19.

I made the same mistake, I just used a dremel to file down the plastic on the plug end of the bulb, they worked fine and looked great. Note just make sure to keep the wires for the bulb separated.

I didn't know you could do that.  :o

I'll try that out first, but under the suggestion of Cndn, I ordered the 74 wedge base bulbs. I'll try 'em both out and see which one is brighter/dimmer/just right for my '06. Thanks for your help guys!

you do not want the highbeam to have the 198 led in it or ur helmet will glow blue at night . i wouldnt sand down any of the led, with exception to the turn signal, since you can return them and the right ones are about half the price  :thumb:

Well... I received my 74 led's but they seem a bit loose in the slot? They look the right size, but the don't fit like the original bulbs. And what's up with the turn signal one? Just making sure I'm doing everything right. I'm just concerned that they're gonna come lose while riding.  :icon_rolleyes:

turn signal needs a non polar led and only the 198 come like that, unless u dont mind the indicator only coming on for 1 side and not both sides.

Ahh! I'll grind down then. I have a green 194 that I'm not using at the moment, but what's the easiest way to grind them down? I tried a Dremel but it started to grind the terminal wires down and I didn't want to cause any more damage. Any suggestions? Is there any way to exacto the wires out and then grind down the edges? Otherwise, I did a night test and the LED's work AWESOME! I'm so happy with the result of the 74 wedge bulbs.

:) :) :)

i used a file and a carpet knife, you dont need to go past the wires, just get right up next to it on both sides :thumb: . it will be kind of a "stretch" fit in the socket and it wont go back in the gauge all the way but it should work fine.
