Anyone in SoCal with an Impact wrench?

I'd like to replace my front rotor and have been told that I need to use an impact wrench in order to do this properly.  Living in an apartment with no garage, I have decided against purchasing airtools for the time being.  If anyone in LA/Orange county has an impact wrench and is willing to let me borrow their garage for a few minutes, I'd be happy to donate a sixer of decent beer.

Thanks,

You do not need a impact wrench to do the job.

You do need the correct size allen wrench and for leverage you can use a piece of pipe to undo the bolts.  Just slide the pipe over the end of the allen wrench and turn.  Undo the bolts while the wheel is still on the bike.  It  will make it easier when the wheel is still attached to the bike.

When you replace the rotor use a torque wrench so that you will have the proper torque and use some loctite on the bolts.  Use the blue stuff since it will hold but allow for you to remove the rotor if needed in the future

If you do not have a torque wrench some auto parts stores will rent one to you.

One of those impact drivers you hit with a hammer is a great investment.  Particularly handy at breaking loose allen head screws and phillips head screws that are frozen.  Or anything else.    :thumb:

I took my back rotor off recently to touch up the paint on it when I had my tire off. I just used my Craftsmen rachet with a allen bit. I also use a one foot long steel bar over my rachet for extra torque. They difinatly have lock-tite on them but it wasn't to hard.
If you still need a hand PM me and we can do it my carport.
