I am installing a smoke integrated tail light and I ordered it from clear alternatives. Where does the electronic flasher hook up on the bike? How do I eliminate the old turn signals? What did you do with the wires that ran to the old turn signals? thanks

frankieG

use a quick connect directly to you old lights and don't bother with the flasher bit

Is there a place I can find out exactly how to hook them up?

pbureau69

easy peasy...

1. remove your seat
2. unscrew one of the turn signals (now follow the lead there is a quick disconnect along the side of the underside of seat.
3. use on of the yellow wires of the tailight, connect it and turn on teh flasher for that side.. check its the correct one for the tailight if not swap yellow wires... if right one, solder and or use quick connect

4. repeat for other side..

what I did... easy peasy... if you need picture lmk...

Your new tail light cluster will have wires for the runing lights and brake lights. What shoudl be done is you will cut the wires form your old turn signals and splice them with the brake light wires. You should end up with both the brake light and left turn signal going into the same wire and do the same for the other side. everything else will be easy. Hope that helps if you need some pictures or a diagram PM me and Ill help you.

Another question is how do the relays hook up or do I even need them? These are probably stupid questions but it would be nice to know. thanks

if your signals are blinking fast after hooking them up you need them. unless of course you prefer the faster flash rate

Im sorry guys...I just don't see why some members have a heart attack about their signals blinking fast. To me its nothing but an attention grabber, but on the same token makes you more visible  :dunno_white:

K, I'm an idiot.

By doing this would your tail light then work as a brakelight AND blinkers?

mach1: I believe the integrated clear alternative is a plug and play for the brake lights so no splicing would be required for the brake just the turn signals. correct me if im wrong.

here's another question: could u splice the integrated signals into the signal wires while having buell signals connected also? would having the integrated plus the 2 buel signals blinking use up too much power?

if you bought the taillight that permits this, the answer is yes, meaning you don't need the rear turn signals...
looks like this when all done and said.

I have a question pertaining to the taillight. This might have been covered, but I'm semi-retarded, so forgive me if it has. I just want to make sure I'd be doing everything correctly.

Clear alternatives has this part:
http://clearalternatives.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CA&Product_Code=CTL-0026-2-IT&Category_Code=Ckear.GS

This looks like it's only the electrical part that hooks into the taillights to MAKE them integrated. So in essence, what I'm asking is would I have to purchase the above part with this part...
http://clearalternatives.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CA&Product_Code=CTL-0026-2-L&Category_Code=Ckear.GS

to make my turn signals an integrated turn signal?

I'm looking to do this as inexpensive as possible. Is it going to cost $160 to integrate? Thanks for the help!!!

you would just need to buy the integrator, the 2nd link is for the led clusters if u just wanted brake lights, hence why they still have the signals on the bike. the integrated signals are not DOT approved. personally i would go with the led cluster and with the money you save get the clear lenses for your signals or even better get buell signals

CoyotesFan84

If integrated LED's are not DOT approved, why do people use them? Is there any risk of not being able to get your motorcycle registered due to not meeting inspection requirements? I really like the look of integrated LED's and would prefer to do an Uber-Fenderectomy

CndnMax

you can get some crap from the Leo about it. i doubt it would stop you from registering it, but im not to sure what that whole inspection is about.

I believe only the 01 plus bikes lenses can be changed out for the clears. Ask Wrecent_Wryder. He has done it.  O0

Did you buy the LED tailight ? (confused) , if you did then yes the integrated taillight module is pretty much your only choice, and maybe consider simply buying mini rear turn signals and mount them close to the license plate area as many have done in the past.

If you did not buy it yet, then take a look at this link Xtreme Discount Cycle --> http://search.stores.ebay.com/Xtreme-Discount-Cycle_suzuki-gs_W0QQfciZQ2d1QQfclZ4QQfsnZXtremeQ20DiscountQ20CycleQQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQfsubZ9QQsaselZ9160989QQsofpZ0

This guy (which I bought it from) sells the LED tailight with integrated turns signals for 89-00 (63$) and 01-07 (81$) usually in clear or smoke (I bought a smoke from him myself and very happy with the result, visible all the time, and I just did my inspection last week at a dealership and they did not think anything of it, of course this is america were almost all bike sports and cruisers Have intgreated tailights.

About laws on turn signals, I beleive in America  the turn signals can be part of brake lights as, a great many cars have only 2 tailights and when you turn, that brake light starts blinking while the other brake stays on (while braking) , so I dont think that it have anything do do with it,  but I beleive the regulations y'all are talking about is concerning the "distance seperating the turnsignals" than actually the turn signal vs brake light locations. this will probably vary depending on country and (in usa - state you reside in)

for example... I live in texas, and the legistlations about turn signals on motorcycles is; (exerpt below note the bold part)

TRC ยง547.324.

TURN SIGNAL LAMPS REQUIRED.

(1) shall be mounted at the same level and spaced as widely apart as practicable on the front and on the rear of the vehicle; and

And this is why in Texas you are allowed to have integrated tailights ladies and gentlemen

I have not purchased anything as of yet. I wanted to make sure I was getting the right products before I actually hit the "Buy" button. And thanks for the clarification. As per the legality, from everything I've read in the Arizona Revised Statutes, it's legal. I see other sportbikes with integrated tail lights all the time. And that Xtreme discount shop has the Clear Alternatives Clear LED WITH integrator for $81?
