Well, my buddy needed to borrow someone's car, so he lent the TL1000R to my other buddy... who let me ride it once again...

Heeheeheeeheee....

I gotta say, TWINS ARE MORE FUN.. probably why everyone loves the GS so much too.. theres just something about the roar of a twin.

I had a blast. This time i had a chance to get a feel for it, and i think it would actually make a decent next bike..

Once you get used to it, the power is not really a big scary kick-in-the-pants like i thought at first. I was doing second-gear power wheelies.. nothing really big, but good for 2-3 mins experience on the bike..

The steering stabilizer makes it less fun in parking lot and slow manuevers though.. i dont really like that thing.. makes it feel the opposite of the nimble gs..sluggish even.

An interesting sidenote: I had only been on the bike for 2 seconds.. and i cracked it in first (used to the gs again), and the back end slid sideways, the tires screamed bloody murder, and the front end felt very light. FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN!!!! I was just putting it back down when i spotted 2 guys wearing some nice leather riding jackets and carrying helmets.. definitly sportbike guys and not squids :thumb: . I stopped and to my surprise the one said..

"Hey! your TL backfires too!?, i thought mine was the only one that had that problem!"

He, of course, was referring to the problem caused by the PAIR valve.. common the TL's i found out. We talked a bit about bikes and i found out he had the identical bike my friend had.. Yosh pipes and all..

I went on my way, and i had a nice 4 minutes of RIPPING and shredding...

All in all... I want one again

Remind me not to lend my bike to any of your friends   :P

Sounds like alot of fun. Something I always wondered about those litrebike monsters though is what they'd be like in the rain. I've never ridden one, but hearing stories and reading how much of a handful that TL was in the dry, I get the feeling riding bikes like that in the rain would be somewhat less than fun.  :o

I wonder if there's a line you cross when it comes to wet conditions. The HP benefit/liability threshold, so to speak. I ride in crappy weather alot, and even on the humble GS I've had the back end slide on me. I can't imagine what having twice the HP would be like under those circumstances. Yikes!

Bet they're a blast when it's nice and dry though  :thumb:

Oh yeah, your girlfriend looks pretty in that picture Rashad

I rode a Honda RC51 in the rain, and in the dry. It was actually reasonably well behaved in the wet stuff. You can break that big ol rear tire loose pretty easy, but thast alright. The torque that big twin made was ludacris! it felt like a turbine, it just kept pulling and pulling and pulling. Hell you could power wheelie out of your drive way no prob.
I love the sound of a Twin!
I think evryone should ride a liter bike just a few times to see what its really about!

UPDATE:

ugggh.... :x  remember the TL i was talking about?

The kid that was borrowing it let someone else ride it home (with the owner's permission) and he didnt go home. He went out riding and picked up a buddy..

Oh, i didnt mention.. (and neither did HE!) he doesnt have a permit or license... he said he did... :nana:

He flew by a cop, panicked, and nailed it.. Took a 40 mph offramp at 150 mph, and im guessing he stood up through the turn, becuase he didnt even make it to the bend... he layed it down through a grass embankment...

He is soo LUCKY!! God had a hand in this one..

BIKE: Perfect, rideable condition.. only a small crack on the front fairing above headlight.. scratches are slight.. NOTHING BENT!

140mph wreck!!!!!!!!!!

PASSENGER: Ok, except his helmet had some blood in it.. a testament to what could have been, had ne not worn it... But other than that hes fine..

DRIVER(iddiot): Ok, a few stitches, very minor..

So, after he got the bike out of the ditch, he took off... leaving the passenger at walmart..  he dissapeared because the passenger was calling an ambulance and he didnt have his permit :nana: ...so he fled.

He got home, his parents found out what had happened... and they called the cops!!! They wanted him to spend some time in jail.. where he is right now... :thumb:

Funny note... The cop that arrested him asked him.. "hey did you go by me on the golden strip?"

"yeah, that was me, i wont lie.."

"Why did you speed up? I wasnt gonna chase you. You think im stupid? I dont chase sportbikes.." In fact the cop didnt even radio.. he let it go.... so he had wrecked out of panic.. for no real reason. :P

What fun........

That is exactly why I won't run from the cops.

Not worth it to me to even try

I'm glad the bike is okay.  Sounds like your friend that owns the bike is very trusting.  Its also nice that no one was seriously hurt

Yeah, its a weird situation.. the bike is probably gonna get repoed.. hes about two payments behind.. He cant afford the bike and he owes waaay too much on it still...

He was actually MAD that the kid didnt TOTAL it!!!

"Dammit!, if your gonna wreck my bike, at least total it to insurance will pay it off!! :nana: "

That is the definition of SQUID!
The things some people do. I cant believe he endangered his friend on the back also. Thast awful. I cant imagine a crash at that speed. It would be vicious!
He is so lucky to just be in jail, not in a casket. I hope Bubba in the shower teaches him a lesson, and makes his backside to sore to ride another motorcycle for a real long time!

i would never run fro mthe cops. especially (dont beat me up on this one) my gs. i love the thing to death but its just to damn slow. yeah acceleration is alright but top end has nothin. but i still love my gs and its fast enough for me. besides what would i be risking. maybe 50 bucks. its just not worth it to me. oh btw that kid is a complete idiot. he outta know that bike has more power than he can handle. especially cause he doesnt have a license.  :nono:

I like that cop... Hope we get a few more of those joining the force... Not to say squids should roam free but I think there is waaay too much serious crime around in most cities for cops to devote any serious portion of their time to catch the blown blinker and invalid registration.... eeewwwww... They should be aloowed traffic duty only on their way from an actual crime scene, or when they happen to be driving around to the donut shop... and hell no... no donuts while on duty.
Cool.
