Givi A600 windshield?

I am considering the purchase of a Givi A600 windshield.

Does any one have one on their GS500.  If so does it provide much wind/rain protection? ( I am 6' 1") How do you like its appearance on the bike? How secure is the two position handlebar  mount?  Is there much vibration at highway speeds?

Does the right handlebar adapter clear the brake hose fitting on the side of the brake fluid reservoir?  Also, do you think there would be enough adjustment for the mounting hardware to be used with the Gen Mar bar risers?  These risers move the bars back and up 1 3/8".

This shield is not too small and not too big, also I think it goes on/off without too much problem.  Is this correct?

I like the looks of the naked bike, but for cold and rain it would be nice to have the option of a shield.  Something I do not have to have on the bike all of the time.

I realize that a larger shield would offer more protection but I do not like the way they look.  I don't know if it is wise to compromise comfort for appearance.  However, the A600 is definitly better than a small fly screen.  Right?

Thanks.

I had a givi A750 on an SV650 which has about the same headlight setup as a GS.  It should fit without any issues, it will keep wind off your face and reduce bug splatters on your shield.

I have always liked the looks too.  So for $135 I really think its a better looking alternative in my hunble opinion.  For general details about the setup check out this page -->  http://www.geocities.com/catpoopman/sv650_givi.html

I have an A750 too. It's the best money I spent on my GS. The only drawback is that at night the light coming from the head light is slightly refected toward me. Other than that I love it.

I like the appearance compared to many of the handlebar mounted screens.  It's got a bit of  'Euro tourer'/ more modern look don't you think?

No vibration that I can tell.  It does make the front end a little more susceptible to cross winds at freeway speeds and above.   Nothing to worry about.

As for protection, it's size vs. coverage.  I know that I don't like looking through a screen.  In the past, I've trimmed the top off ones that were too tall so that I could see over. I've had larger screens that created terrible back drafts. Not much of that here. I've only ridden in a drizzle once and my chest was dry after about 10 miles.  It's also a bit warmer behind it. I'm 6 2" and shrinking

On a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 = no protection and 5 = Goldwing, I give it a 3.

You should be OK. I have bar risers too.

It's a little more cantankerous than you might expect. Getting all the backets together, installed and aligned the first time was a bear. It probably took at least an hour.  Once the mounts are where you want them, you can remove it in just a couple minutes and maybe 5-10 to install it.  It appears to be all high quality stuff

It's a nice little cubby hole to get in if you need to get out of the major part of the blast.

I agree

Thanks.

I had it raised an inch or so above the headlight to see if it offered more still air space.  I've since lowered it back to match the light shape closer.

I bought it from http://store.azmusa.com/index.html

With shipping, it was $99.

I just bought one on ebay for $28.  I just got it saturday and haven't put it on the bike yet but it looks like it will fit well.  Though I'm now debating getting the targa 1/4 fairing instead.

I have been looking around for a substantial bar-mounted screen. In Europe they sell them as Givi Airstar which I think is the same range and numbers I like the look of 602-603-604 I have not seen one on a GS but they seem fine on a Honda CB500 so it should be OK as the bar layout is pretty similar. I figure if you are going to get a "big" screen you might as well get one to give home hand protection as well, model 650? Also Kerry a regular contributer to this site has some stuff on his site with pix of his national cyle screen which looks OK, it is four point mounted on bars and forks.
