The current (2day) banning of WrecentRider is due to his deletion of his own posts.  I am reviewing what we are going to do with him with the current site owner and other admins.

If it is deemed appropriate, he will be allowed to continue deleting his posts.

No offense,.. but what is wrong with someone deleting their own posts.  If they want to wipe their slate clean, let them.  Its not like its disturbing the rest of us. :dunno_white:

Some of this stuff is getting way out of hand.  I cant say i agree with wrecentrider on some of the things hes said or done.  But banning him for removing things hes said thats going a little too far.
It is an option on the posts.  If he decides to use it, let him.  ITs just a lot of work to go through and delete EVERYTHING... you have said over the entire time you have posted here. Myself personally,,i dont have that much time in my life to get the things i need done around my house let alone mess around with something like that..

gets peoples attention and the message is to smarten up...i agree with it

Before you all jump to conclusions, the reason for the temporary banning is because the deletion of posts really hurts the forum, in organization and back-ups; it really affects the database(s).

Mach1, you would do well to heed your own words.  It's your choice.

Scratch is right and i think your missing the point alot of you. Wrecent is deleting ALL his posts - not changing his ways by deleting his abusive posts. Hes deliberately trying to ruin the forum by putting big gaps in where he has normal - helpful posts. This is not behavior which is considered good, hes just doing it to make life hard for everyone. And as Scratch also said, they are trying to preserve the good bits of this forum, they are not throwing their weight around.

I don't "live" for this board.  It is a place where GS owners, or seekers, can look up information on the GS.  That is the purpose of this board.  If this forum were to shut down, I would move on with my life, still ride my GS; I'm not in so deep that if I were distraught about something that happens on the internet that I would resort to maliciousness.

I'm a mod and have been a mod of other boards and forums, and I say if you don't want people deleting their OWN posts, then disable it for non staff members.  If someone wants a post deleted have them PM a staff member to do so.....PROBLEM SOLVED!!

Werd^!

Or set a time limit on delete's. PHPBB3 allows you to specify an acceptable amount of time before someone is no longer allowed to delete thrie post. It can also be set to allow only deletions if someone has not posted in the thread after you have. But a ban because someone was deleting all of their posts give me a break. Sorry Scratch but that is stupid and an abuse of power.

Personally as a DBA if the MYSQL database structure and engine is so lightweight it cant handle wrecent's deletions then users should never be given the ability to delete period. Never worked with it and hope to never have to but since I am going back to school to advance my programming knowledge out of the stone age I probably will have to work with it.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

I guess you didn't understand the part about it being bad for backups and the congruity of the database.

Seems to me that wrecent's post would tend towards being HIS intellectual property, and thus HIS to delete.

God, people in general have completely lost their minds.

TheGoodGuy

actually deletes disabled for regular users.. but what he is doing is editing his post and deleting the info in there .. aka: modify function.

And that should also be limitable to a short period of time after a post is made.

At 2 local riders forums you can not modify a post after it is 30 minutes old.

And I agree with Terry :cookoo: Now that's scary :flipoff:
