i have really enjoyed my gs500 and it has been great to me. i mean nothing has went wrong at all. it is

a great bike i would like something sportier. my roommate has a cbr f4 and my other buddy has a 1996

zx6r. i ride their bikes all the time and i think i am about ready for an upgrade. so will be saving up $2000

over the next 3 month. that gives me a grand total of $3500 with the money from selling my gs500.

i have a friend who is going to be buying it for his wife to learn on. what kind of bike should i get i am

interested in something that can keep up with my friends. it has to have at least a 160 rear tire. it has

to be fun on the track and comfortable on the highway. so please let me know your ideas.

p.s. i like both fairing and naked bikes

thanks :thumb:

How about a CBR f4i or YZF600 or a ZZR600 or a SV650 or a Super Hawk (hey, it has a 180 tire and can pass anything but a gas station).

i am looking for someting with more comfortable seating position. the f4 is not bad over a distance

but i am not that comfortable on the ninja after a hour of riding.  i was wanting some thing with

more tourability. i was hoping for some ideas maybe outside of the big 4.

i like to be different. O0

You didn't mention anything about the big 4 in your first post.  Good luck finding anything outside of the big 4 in your price range.  Maybe a Triumph Speed 4?  Doesn't get much different than that!!!!

I'd go the F4i followed by the SV650.
The F4i doesn't excel in any one area but its a good, well balanced bike. You can race it, commute & tour.
Have no idea about prices on your side of the pond but try for a 05. When did they stop making them, 05 or 06?

the speed 4 is sick, but i doubt there will be one for sale within 500 miles in 3 months.

i love the speed 4 but they are rare to find for sale. i was also thinking about a bandit 600s.

my next bike does not have to be outside the big 4. that is why i said maybe outside the big

4. i was hoping or some ideas that have not been mentioned so far

and that superhawk is really nice.

Where do you live, BTW?

There is a triumph dealer near me.  I talked to the guy about the Speed 4.  He said when he had them on his showroom floor they sold right away.  Then he said something else but I was distracted by a lime green Speed Triple.   :icon_twisted:

honda vfr800. get pre 2001 to avoid the vtec crap. very sporty bike and very comfortable for touring. the benchmark of sport touring bikes. You should be able to find pre 2001 in your price range but I havent checked.

Chris,
anything you get that's outside of the big 4 is going to have to be pretty old for it to fit into your price range  (early 90's)
and those bikes are going to be maintenance hogs.

Get an F4i, or one of the 650's

thanks for the advise, i saw a speed 4 for sale that was in my range but i am still a couple of months away from getting my new bike (new to me).

more than likely i will be going with a cbrf4 somewhere between 99-04 because they are quite readily available.

if i was going to spend  the money and get a new bike i would finda deal on a fz6. i am very fond of that bike.

and thanks everyone for commenting :thumb:
