Hey guys, on my 1990 500E, anything past 3k rpm, the RPM's seem to stick, for up to 10 seconds. The throttle snaps back, so its not a throttle cable "sticking" issue.

however the bike has the flatside carbs, are those OEM?
The bike is barely drivable, if the hoses are screwed up going to the carbs or whatever, that wouldn't surpise me.. anyway please help

Hm, I'm not so knowledgeable about mechanics,
but as far as I can read I'd say it might be lean carburation.
Try and take a look at your spark plugs, just in case...

had similar problem with my 04. when the bike was cold everything seemed to be fine, but on fully warmed up engine the rpms barely dropped below 3000-4000.
I found that the screw ("under" the carbs and between them) was set up in the wrong way (I believe it was turned in to much)

so I turned it out a little bit and it solved the problem. (did that on fully warmed up engine and bike running on neutral of course

Yeah, my guess would be the idle is set a smidge too high, or an intake leak.  The idle should be set at around 1200-1500 RPM.  If that's not it, take off the carbs and make sure the boots are pretty and sealing well.  If that's not it, then ask again.

+ 1 Check that set screw.

Another culprit may be sticky slides. Take the airbox off and push the slides up with your finger- if they don't immediately go back down, check the return spring. That happened to me once, although I'm not sure how common it is.

Thanks guys, I think it was the idle screw....  Although how fast should the slides shut in the carbs?   mine seem slow.   

It's fast or slow depending on how you look at it.  It seems to be around 1/3 of a second for me.  That might be faster or slower than you expect, but it works for me.

Ok, then I would say mine are slow for sure, I'm looking at a second. ...

I have a 2001.  I don't know if that's a factor.
