To start I found the bike will helping a buddy fix his car. We seen some kids climbing all over somthing and went over to investigate, low and behold its a motorcycle. Apon inspection the bike is missing some pieces and looks like someone has abondoned it and Also looks like it been downed. So I roll it home and contact the police. The police run the vin and tell me it hasnt been reported stolen and is most likely been ditched by someone who deosnt want it anymore but as it was found on military land they dont have the authority to give it to me and I must contact the MP's. So again I call the MP's and give them the vin and again it comes back with a clean title but as it was found on military property the goverment takes ownership and if I want it I must buy it when the goverment auctions it off, unless the previous owner sells it to me or gives it to me. I ask if the MP's can put me in touch with the previous owner witch the do and he tell me the bike was stolen from his garage but for some reason I still dont understand he never got around to reporting it. I ask him if he will sell it to me and we agree on $300. So theres the story on how I got my GS and Im kicking my self for not getting some before shots of it but I'll try to post some picks but if I dont succeed I will add a link to the pics with  bike and the old tank that was on it when I found it which is the one I offered for free.

finally found something to use as a make shift oil plug until I replace the oil pan, in turn means I got to take her out for a spin up and down the road many times. It accelerates smooth, shift up and down without a prob. But need to do some adjustments to the rear brakes to soft.  so gauges, oil pan and repainting the rear cowling with new decals and a carb sync and she'll be done.

Nice work and a fine snag on an 89.   :thumb:

I have a web page that gives a GS Census. Care to share the VIN to add to the collection? I used the highest VIN to estimate the number of year models that were available.

PS, you might want to reduce your link in the first post to something like:

http://kellehar.spaces.live.com/

All that other stuff kills the link.  :o  The photo section scrolls fine.
