I'm looking at a 2004 Suzuki SV650S.  Here are the specs:
10XXX miles
Great shape, never down, oil changed every 2000 miles
Very clean and well maintained
Blue with lower fairings
Hamicad fender eliminator (stock included)
Continental Road Attack tires with about 2000 miles on them
Puig Double Bubble Smoke screen (stock included)
Yoshimura Titanium TRS slip-on
17 tooth front sprocket for the highway (15T stock included)

So, what do you guys think this bike is worth.  I was thinking of offering $4,000.  Does that sound about right?  One big question I have is about the 17T sproket.  Will that affect the milage reading on the bike?

If you are offering 4,000 then stand firm.  That's all that it is worth, especially with 10,000 miles.  All the little extras and mods usually count for nothing during resale, so don't let the add-ons sway you.

and the Odo reads at the front wheel if I remember correctly, so no, I don't think the sprocket will affect the reading.

what IS a Hokie?

Mk1inCali

No, it won't.  Speedo drives off the front wheel's rotation, not the engine or rear wheel.

4K seems like a good price with the extras.

Looks good, I'd go for it. I like it with the lower fairings, I think those are kinda spendy too.

I got the money together so as long as he'll take $4,000 and it hasn't changed drastically from the pictures she'll be mine early next week.  Looks like I'll be getting the GS ready to sell.

I don't know where you're at but they go for way more where I'm at and in california in general.  I'd say he could get 4500-5k here no problem with the extras.  If its clean title not dropped, and shiny paint, even with the miles its a good deal for a fuel injected reliable twin.  That WILL be my next bike.  I passed up an 05 with 8k on it for 3500 with lower fairings, yellow, all the goodies but it just isn't time to move up for me yet.  I need some more seat time in this first.

I'm in Michigan and with our depressed economy it really is a buyers market.  I've been looking at the bike for about three weeks and just can't make up my mind.  Now I've found a 2003 GSX-R600 for about the same price and it just makes the decision harder.  I know the Gixxer is fast if your going all out but with all the low end torque I think the SV will feel faster in every day driving.  I really doubt I'll get either bike up to redline very often.

I'm going to look at both tomorrow so I guess I'll decide once I sit on each bike.  I think I've found a buyer for my GS already too.

2003 GSX-R 600- 2003 blk and silver gsxr600

- new back tire
- comes with helmet and joe rocket jacket
- shaved front turn signals
- blacked out wind screen

If you were looking at track days/racing somewhere down the line, the GSXR would take you a lot further down that road capably than the stock SV would, but the SV is going to be more fun in traffic/daily commute, and cheaper to run.

I doubt I'll ever go to the track so it sounds like the SV is for me.

I looked at them both today.  The SV looks like it just left the show room while the GSX-R wasn't even close.  So, I'm getting the SV.  I can't wait, although it's suppose to rain most of next week.

I know how you feel.  I got done with school last December and I can't count how many times I went without so I could get my education.  It will be worth it though.

My roomate bought my GS so it'll still be in the family, plus I'll have someone to ride with all the time.

Here are some pics:

nice choice, how much is the insurance on the sv over the 500?  im sure the insurance on the gixxer would have been terrible, plus everyone an there brother has a gixxer, an most think their stunters so they have been ridden hard, an yes there are exceptions so i don't wanna hear ur but, but but stories

The SV is $20 more a month than the GS, the Gixxer would have been $70 more.  The Gixxer was ridden very hard and it showed.  You could park the SV at a dealership and have a hard time telling it wasn't a brand new bike.

that's funny cause my insurance went up like 5 bucks from the gs500 to the gixxer. but would have gone up like 100 with an sv650.....they go by cc's so the sv650 is more...it's stupid...
