All it sounds like is fuel starvation.

Can you tell me if you were in crosswinds?
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

Sounds like fuel starvation for sure, and crosswinds could be the trouble, but only if he has an aftermarket pod/lunchbox setup.

bike is completley stock, was in small crosswinds, curvy road near the end at night, but what is wierd is that it now wont go more than a mile without dying

I'm around tonight.  You should have my cell, call me.  Off work/done with errands around 7 or so.

Definitely fuel starvation, you probably have a hose pinched somewhere under the tank.

I had the EXACT same problem with my '91 turned out to be plugged fuel filters...just a thought  :thumb:
Almost time...

alright, here is an update we took off the tank and cleaned the carbs and unconnected and checked fuel
lines they looked  good so i reconnected rhem without kinks. So it runs a bit better didnt seem to shut down while riding but still whrnever you pull in the clutch the engine revs up to 4 grNd no matter what you do to adjust it im kind of confused. Gurus of the gs i need your help with this one

your idle is way too high or your choke is on would be my top 2 ideas

Nepix

no, choke isnt on (just went and checked though)

it starts fine idles fine but when you go out riding and go past 4000rpm and thenif you go to a light and pull in the clutch it  goes back up to 4000rpm if you engage the clutch and let it back out it *sometimes* stays down at the normal 1200 idle

Sounds like a leak somewhere in the intake tract.

I had the same problem and I had to unscrew the throttle stop to lower the idle and I also had to put some locktite to stop it from moving. Never had the problem again. I also noticed the bent tube that guides the choke cable came loose from the carbs and was causing the choke to stick but not that much. BTW how is your GS?
