Interesting thought.  I have '89s on my '92 but never thought to check the o.d.  I just figured they were all the same.  I need to replace my bars as the PO dropped it "or something" as my right bar is bent.  Thought about putting Vortex or Woodcraft bars on instead.  Guess I could check when I get home.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Finally got the cilp-ons installed! I removed the top plate and put the clip-ons on the forks without having to lower the forks any.

The hardest part of the whole thing was removing the top plate. Those bolts attaching it to the top triple were TIGHT. I had to put an allen bit on a 24 inch breaker bar to get enough leverage to even turn the bolt. The whole time I was worried that it might strip too much and I'd have to drill it out or something. The only time I can think of where a bolt this small was this tight was in the fuel filter for a car.

I still gotta fab up a steel/aluminum plate to bolt the gauges on to. Right now, I'm just using some zip-ties to hold them onto the top triple. Super ghetto, I know...

Other than that, it's freakin awesome. Got insane forward lean now. Just gotta get my back used to it, cuz it's hurtin real bad after only 30 minutes of riding.
The Frogurt is also cursed

Hey so you took off the top plate, put on the clip-ons without lowering the forks? Thats amazing, I want to do this. Do you have pics of the cockpit please?

1. What if I put the under the top triples?

2. ALSO if someone could post a step-by-step for vortex clipons wthout having to lower the forks....when you take of the top plate, you can just screw the clipons in the appropriate area with the SAME top fork screws? (no need for mods for this??)

3.So what I mean to say is just take off topplate, put clip-ons on, adjust them, put on the controls, fab. a top plate got gauges....sounds pretty easy.....

4.Would 89 clipons feel the same as these? (just take top plate off and replace with the 89 clipons plate??)

Thanks
