Anybody tried sprint, cingular or anybody else's mobile broadband? I was thinking about getting it for work.

the iPhone essentially works off the AT&T/Cingular broadband network,  and it's not terrible.  It's not the fastest connection,  but it's by far not as bad as dial up.

Okay. We are only able to get dial up at work unless we want to pay over $100 a month for dsl. Which to us isn't worth it being a very small company. So I was just thinking this would work out better, plus I could take it with me and use it with my laptop on the road or something. We are currently using netzero, and it sucks. I have broadband at home, and comming to work and getting on this is horrible.

I have used Verizons 3G in the past and it was fairly fast. However it is not availble in all areas. The areas where 3G is not available the connection is MEGGA SLOW  :thumb:

Same with the AT&T/Cingular network.  If you're in a good network it's about as fast as DSL,  but if you're out in the boonies  it takes 20 minutes just for your damn email to load :icon_rolleyes:

Well, I am in Portland Oregon, which is the biggest city in this state, so I'm sure I would get a good connection. I would get DSL but we are at the end of the line...

I have Verizon's Broadband on my laptop using an express card. I was on the edge of coverage for almost a year but then a couple of months ago I started getting max connections at 1.4mb. I have had only minimal problems.
Common sense in not very common.

That's pretty damn good for being able to get on almost anywhere. Did you have to sign a 2 year contract? Looks like almost everybody has a 2 year, I wish there was a 1 year. And $60 seems to be standard for the monthly fee.

I use my 8525 phone for broadband when travelling. So far cingular rocks even outside of their 3G network when in between major cities it was very fast. Of course if your a linux geek you aint gonna like since the 8525 is windows and requires the latest version of activesync with a partnership between the phone and PC as well as a windows OS on the PC.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

Haven't done it yet, but there's a hack for the iPhone to use it as a modem..............

There's a hack out now that essentially adds GPS, except it triangulates your position based off of signal strength from identifiable towers. :o
