Hey guys,

I know I don't post to often but I don't know where else to go to vent my anger so....

/rant

I work at a retail store and I ride my bike to work all the time and park it in the back of the front lot. So today I get a call from my coworker who went to lunch that there were a bunch of people gathered around my bike. So I of course go outside to see what is going on, and as I start walking toward the back, the last car next to my bike drives away, so I see some coworkers sitting outside smoking and they go up to me and say, you ride a bike don't you? To which I respond ya that's my bike back there. He goes oh shaZam! are you serious? Which of course set's off alarms in my head so I ask what happened. He tells me that a group of people were sitting on my bike taking pictures, girls and guys, they were sitting two up as well. Great..... I leave my bike parked in first so it won't roll so the first thing that comes to my head is they messed up first gear. I run over to see what they did and fortunately the only thing I notice is the choke is half on, and there are a bunch of fingerprints on the gas tank.

It rode home without and problems but I'm worried that they could have messed up a gear or my clutch?

Why are people so god damn disrespectful to other people's property?

I am so angry right now I think I am going to work out....

Sorry for the spelling.

Thanks :)

I'm feeling a lot less angry but I still don't understand why people have to be so stupid!

minos36

i ordered some turn signals from pjsparts.com and they threw in a free magnet that i think you should have:

"please don't touch me. i'm not that kind of bike."

sorry to hear that, dude. people are idiots, and when one idiot starts to do something stupid the other idiots magically flock together. take comfort in knowing that none of us here would ever disrespect your property like that.

Yes, they are idiots.

Get a disc lock with an alarm in it.

I had a disc lock with an alarm on mine and guess what happened, when they sat on it the alarm went off, the d#@%heads jumped off in such a hurry they knocked the bike over

ohgood

Good point man. Bike alarms are worthless, sometimes add to the frustration.

Kids will shake bikes just to see if they are alarm 'protected'. I've seen it.  :cookoo:

Kids will also sit on, pose on, and glam on your bike. Girls will really do it. I mean, to the point you think someone is coming out with a camera for a naughty shooting session. (seen that too, it was coooool)

Get a $20 bike cover from walmart. If people see a cover, they have no interest. Since using one myself, I have not seen ONE fingerprint on the tank, or had to shoo away teenagers. It'll fit in a backpack or saddlebag easy, and keeps your bike from laying over. Not to mention some @$$hole's blood all over it after it breaks his/her leg.

Don't worry, your GS is tough. She can take it :)

When I was a kid, I never dreamed of touching someone's motorbike or even car. Had the fear of god put in me that the owner would come out and throttle me.

Now that I own a motorbike myself, I am amazed at the number of people that think it is ok to just go up and jump on it "to see how it feels".

Maybe because its a GS, people know I can't be a hard core biker who'll break their knee caps.

Hard Core Biker NOPE, Breaking their knee caps..... still a possibility!  :icon_twisted:

dgyver

Get a bikini cover. The stretchy kind that covers the handlebars and the seat. I used to have one years ago, kept the people off of it.
Common sense in not very common.

get a brown marker and smudge the tip on a dirty pair of old tighty-whities and strap it to your seat. that'll keep them off.  :thumb:

I think I will get a bike cover, that a good idea that I never thought of!

If that does not work I will try minos36's idea.... :)

If I see a nice convertible it's not like I jump inside to take some pictures!

It's the same everywhere!

Last week, i tried to figure out what was missing on my gs. After puzzeling for a few seconds (it was 6 am 8) ) i discoverd that both mirrors were gone. Just, not there anymore!  :dunno_white: Looked like some [censor] had a wrench and unscrewed them.
So instead of riding to work, i had to wait a couple of hours for the first bike stores to open and get me a set of mirrors & a bike cover!.

Oh well..

I can't help it. I'm lazy by nature..

Ive never seen this happen to me in England and i leave my bike parked in town all the time and our bike park is right on the main highstreet that hundreds of people walk down. Also the taxi rank is there and they are usually good guys and keep an eye on our bikes for us. The worst thing is when your getting on your bike and your in a rush and some chap youve never even met comes up to you and starts asking you about your bike and you just want to get on. Fair enough when its motorcyclist to motorcyclist at the bike park but not random people you know mite of ridden a bike for 3 days and then didnt like it but like to say they are a biker. Annoying.
