ok so to start:
95 gs500 11k miles
ive owned it for 1k miles
i have done new plugs, 15t front sprocket, drilled exhaust, thats all mechanical ive done, theres alot of comsmetic stuff done, =)

anways i was riding about 40mph not sure what rpm i was at,  i exellerated and heard a slight pop, and a knock knock type suttle vibration in upper right top end,  i pulled over at gas station and looked at oil first, it was 1 3/4 q low, ( i dont know how it got low it doent leak or burn oil, weird, i checked it regular)
so i put oil in it, and contine returned home, i notice now it only makes that noise between 4-6k rpm then its gone. so does this help anyone to tell me what i did, im trying to convince myself i didnt screw something up very badley, im mechanically inclinded so id have to fix it myself, anyways thak you everyone for all your help, keep rubber side down-dan

The GS is pretty tough.

It could be your bike is running lean at that RPM range and is starting to ping?

how common is the cam chain issue could this possible be the issue it is almost like a slap slap, metal to metal like the chain is loose maybee, it doesnt effect performance at all

The cam chain tensioner, CCT, is a spring driven device that can adjust for chain wear - to a point. The CCT has about 21mm (.82 inches) of operation range from fully collapsed to max extension. That does not mean a new setup is at the minimum range point so...you would have to determine if you are maxed out.

Dgyver has probably set more cam/chain/crank positions that I ever will. Maybe he will sense a disturbance in the force and chime in here.

It may also be time to go through and check valve adjustments. The video Kerry made for this is around here somewhere.
