actually it is US import laws that prevent bikes from getting here.  canada, mexico as well as the rest of the world get them.  the US is not very import friendly but at least the dollar is going into the toilet where it belongs

Ehhh,  you can get damn near anything in the states, vehicle wise.   The matter of paying, duties and other import taxes and then attempting to get it registered is where the real fun begins.
I've been reading up on importing either a 250cc (NSR, RGV)  or a 400cc supersport (either the ZXR or VFR)  and honestly, the biggest hurdle is the EPA.  however,  anything new in the UK market or anything with a current MOT will be well within American emissions standards.
As far as  duties/taxes,  expect to pay anywhere from 1.5-2.9% for duties, another $100 to have the vehicle inspected by the EPA, another $100 to have it inspected by your states DMV and then your regular titling and registration fees.

I've found that if you exercise a little patience, you can have a bike sent on a ship that happens to have a little extra room at a very modest price (500-750).  Just be ready to wait up to 2 months for the bike.  So theoretically, you could have a UK spec bike for about 1k over the cost of the bike.

i remember reading that the Gs in The Uk , they dont need Ignition Advancers because there on there as stock ,

is it just the fact u want a small Sports bike , that u want to get on from here , are our Emmission laws different?

Because i no the rx 7 had to be modified to pass the laws here

why do you think it BELONGS in teh toilet, is that what you want?, anyhoo back on subject, i want to get road legal a suzuki ( i believe it is a d51 or a d21 mini dump truck and get it road legal, i ran into a guy who had one which was or he got it road legal, i asked him how he did it, and he was like  :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: ( a lot of work), farkin thing would be fun to have/drive but damned $$$$$$$$$$$ to get on the road

i'm not going to reply to frankie's comment bout the dollar. i think frankie is a moron. if you don't like the states frankie, you are free to move. anways. bout trying to get things here that aren't sold here. bottom line is, if you got the cash, you can get anything you want. remember the golden rule? "He who has the gold makes the rules." anyways. that honda does look kinda neat. not my kinda bike but still something cool.  :thumb:

If i had the money id love to have one of these as a second bike. Its a modernised CB1100R Concept bike however it looks pretty much completely finalized for production. There was a write up about it in MCN over here in the UK. Looks retro but has modern high tech brakes, suspension, frame, engine and rubber. Its pretty much a modern superbike dressed retro. To me it looks absolutly stunning.

Euro 3 emissions and the UK's MOT requirements exceed the U.S. standards for emissions and safety for motorcycles. It won't be imported to the U.S. because market research says they are not going to be able to sell them for the price they need to sell them for to make it profitable in the U.S. Honda introduced the Transalp into the USA several years ago when it originally came out and it was not popular then. Currently it is probably being made in the Italian assembly plant which means it's cost in US dollar terms is about 30% greater than if it was manufactured in the US. Since enough people are not going to buy it to make it worthwhile to honda to tool up it's production line in Ohio to make them stateside those who want one will have to import it. A Canadian model should have no issues being registered in the U.S. The reason the 599 and the 919 are so much higher priced than the respective bikes from other manufacturers is because we are getting the Italian built version since it is not popular enough to build them in the U.S.

Yeah,  you can find a good 2 smoke on the US ebay every now and then, but it's pretty rare that they actually have it titled and ready to ride.
Or, you can consistantly find em on EbayUK for under 1000 lbs........2k US and another 1k to get it over here and another 500 to get it titled/registered.

There's an RS250 that's had an engine transplant from an rg500 on there right now for 3500lbs  that just makes me drool :laugh:

Theres a Ton Of 2 strokes in England for some reason , i find it alot harder to find parts , i had 2 get a whole GSX for my front end , and i havent seen a 98+ kat rim on there yet

Ive ridden , a Yamaha TZR 125cc . with the power valve , and had 85 mph Indicated

Ridden a NSR 125cc . bored out to 170cc,. that was good for about 90-100 my friend sed

Then ive ridden two 4 stroke 125cc ,a Kymco Zing , 77 Mph Indicated
A Honda CBR 125cc , with 75 Indicated
