i see so many fat hog/cruiser riders with a leather vest and just a bandana on going from bar to bar.  fat idiots

Not to thread jack or anything but......dude, you really hate cruiser riders.  This must be the 10th post from you that I've seen in the last couple months badmouthing guys that ride cruisers (though most of the other ones specified Harley riders).  Take it easy, we're all on 2 wheels there chief.

:o Wow, Thought I was okay with just reading my licensing booklet, taking the quiz questions and be comfortable with only missing two. Yeah, think I will read that again after seeing these posts in this thread. I am looking at buying a gs500e and have little experience with street bikes. I'm also looking at moving, any advice on brand names. I have spent the last week looking at everything I can about gear, spec's, and reading whatever information I can find.

Hey guys i think its important to point out that gear is fantastic, you must always wear it even if your just going round the block, you can't predict what is going to happen. But more importantly you need to know it isn't i wear my gear il be fine if i fall off. You still need to always be on your toes vigilant and do the best to avoid an accident in the first place. Take it slow and just try and predict what is going to happen up the road ahead of you so your prepared for any scenario. Also if you fall off, don't jump up and say im fine, its so easy to do with all the adrenaline just to panic and get embarrased and tell everyone your fine and get the bike off to the house and stuff.

I learnt the hard way falling off at night on mud at a farm entrance i slid down the road in my full leathers and didn't get a scratch on me. I jumped up  just feeling abit achy and stiff and was embarrassed got the parents to come help me collect the smashed up bike and clear the oil of the road. Told everyone i was fine, i was just stiff and probably abit bruised. Took some pain killers and got on with it. The next day my back was totally swollen and all my shoulder area. Turned out i slid over a raised manhole cover that i usually ride around and broke some discs in my back and collarbone. Your often more hurt than you think after falling off so take a few minutes to make sure your really ok and its not just embarrassment and adrenaline.
