Here's the link for R&G Racing sliders specific for the GS.
http://www.rg-racing.com/browseBike/Suzuki/GS500_FullyFaired/All_Years.aspx

I have them on mine- they were not overly difficult to install- as compared to trying to attach an image to this post.

I think sliders on those fairing brackets is just a bad idea.  My GS gas been down twice, at about 10-20 mph each time.  Both times, that fairing bracket has gotten all bent up and tweaked.  Seems like extending it with a slider would just make for more leverage for the street to rip the fairing off with.

Yea, most faring sliders to work at all need to be attached to the end of the engine mounts. Thats the only sure fire solid place that can take any impact.

I met a chap once who had crash bobbins attached to a fairing panel mount closer to the top of the panel and i don't think he had realised until i pointed out to him that a) if the bike fell over the fairing, engine casings and handlebars would take all the brunt before it hit his crash bobbing making it pointless lol and b) it was meant to be attached to the engine mounting bolts.

Well £46.   The exchange rate and airmail is what makes it so expensive over here.  There are others (at the bottom of the wiki page) that may be cheaper or more easily available, like from Lockhart Phillips.  Anybody used those before?

It's worth it if you ask me. I personally don't have a set. Both sides of my fairings are kinda scratched up, both the clutch and brake levers have broken off tips, and the old bar ends on the stock bars (changed them out) were pretty beat up.

A few days ago I saw a guy drop his bike at the gas station (didn't put the kickstand down). His frame slider took the hit and there was absolutely no damage.

Even if you have to cut holes in the fairings, and even if it's >$100, I think it's worth it because replacing plastics cost a lot more than that.

Why are they over-rated and not worth the money, Frankie?

spoke to a dealer yesterday...

they wanted to charge 144 just for labor to cut into the fairings and install sliders..

doesnt look too hard if you ask me, but then again i would hate to fu.ck up the fairings.

It would seem to me that you guys are forgetting what frame sliders are designed for.
If they protect your fairings, great, but the design is meant to protect the frame, thus the name.
You can even get swingarm sliders...

One of the websites has a complete how-to that shows you exactly how to do it.
You take off the fairing, install the longer slider bolt, put some paint on the end of the bolt, then put the fairing in place.
Drill the hole where the mark is.

Could you add a link to that site to the wiki?
