the dealer also was saying something about some brackets...such as they bracket inside the engine mount bolt and wrap around so then the slider gets attached to the bracket. As good as the engine mount, but more cost involved with the bracket?

anyone?/

GI_JO_NATHAN

From everything I've read, the ones that atach with a bracket, like the "No Cut Sliders," will never be as strong as ones that use one long bolt through the engine mount.

Not sure if that answers your question, but thats my $.02

Well £46.   The exchange rate and airmail is what makes it so expensive over here.  There are others (at the bottom of the wiki page) that may be cheaper or more easily available, like from Lockhart Phillips.  Anybody used those before?

the WIKI page link doesnt work...

anybody have any decent places in the states???for engine mounted sliders?? i guess some modification of the fairing is necessary...

/ :icon_rolleyes:

or anything in the states for that matter....I NEED sliders, and dont want to buy from oversea's and wait 3 weeks for em...

:/

thanks..

It isn't that hard to do- I 'm not the most mechanically inclined and I installed the R&Gs on my bike with little difficulty. You just have to take your time. measure twice - cut once  :) I followed the steps provided and the install was a breeze.

Gotcha...Okay.i hear ya loud an clear.

how were the sliders from R&G's?? and how long did they take them to ship to you??

:wondering:

I went to a local shop today, and they said i have to get sliders specifi to the bike. I guess other sliders arent interchangeble with these gs500's.

edit* what did u end up paying for the sliders in total??

It says to call for a price.

Did you get a quote from them?

Also, the R&G's cost Wrecent $113 including shipping, as of currency rates in August 06.  So they'll be slightly more now.

It took a couple of weeks- they shipped them Fedex- they have to clear customs so there goes some time.
I paid around $130- from what I remember
Here's a couple of pics with the sliders- One thing I forgot to mention is I used some nylon washers as spacers so the sliders sit away from the fairing.

mike07gs500f

damm couple of weeks?

i've seen a friends gs-f that has been dropped on both sides and the only damage on the engine cover( which is right next to the sliders). they will prevent that damage but they might very well move the damage points to somewhere else. their only main purpose is saving the frame not the plastics.
