so i'm riding along, get stuck behind some cars, get to a long open stretch and start over taking, wind it out to about 160km/h. then power starts to drop then makes a grinding noise. i hit the kill switch and clutch in and roll to the side of the road. now the engine wont kick over at all and wheel is locked if its in gear. the bike is about a 5-6 hour drive from where i live. the closest suzuki dealer is probably 200km away but very windy roads. Anyone dealed with suzuki warranty and know if they will pick up my bike??? its a 2007 with only 6000kms on it

Why not phone the dealer and ask them?

Yea if its still in warrenty no reason for warrenty to be voided etc.. then ring em up and ask em to pick the bike up now because the darn thing seized up on you and you can't get it to a dealer. If they say they have no service to pick it up get a tow guy to take it there and claim expenses off them.

the dealer refuses to pay shipment/ pick it up/ give me a replacement vehicle.... the bloody thing is 3 months old.......

If this is a brand new bike and the dealer that sold it to you refuses to pick it up, call Suzuki's corporate office.  Tell them what is going on and demand they sort it out, or you will buy a Honda.

I don't understand why the Suzuki dealer network is so uninterested in doing warranty work on GS500's...  If they don't want to provide the necessary customer service they need to find another business.

The dealer i bought it from had 6 month free emergency towing for like 20 mile radius with their own trailer and a 50/50 3rd party towing for more then 20 miles. I guess it just depends on what type of dealer you buy it from. good luck on fixing/replacing the bike.

Whaaaa .... the 89-00 GS'es never blow up. Did suzuki pretty up the bike and throw in chinese sheite on the inside so now its on par with the rest of the sheite in the world. God, I am never buying anything newer than a 1980 model. OK fine, 1995, that was the last year before everything went steep downhill. I know, this Idiot #1 friend of mine blew a 96 running it a quart or so low. BTW, I've done that a plenty on the 89 and it never blew up. Ugly but runs for ever is my favorite, when sheite suddenly gets all prettied up, you wanna make sure its not sheite on the inside.

Whoa, crap!  That sounds ugly. The dealer should honor the warranty, but more to the point there have only been a couple posts here of locked up rear wheels. My 90 project being one.

In my case the starter clutch seized up on the crankshaft around 40 MPH and caused the starter motor to do about a zillion RPM. Centrifugal/max RPM failure ensued (see my avatar).

I doubt you will ever get a loaner or pickup without being related to the dealer by blood or marriage. Your insurance company would have to provide that otherwise.That is what they are for. Your dealer will "deal" with it once it is on their lot.

How did you get the bike from where it stopped to where it currently is?

So  - aside the small issue of getting the vehicle to the dealer, any news ?

the mechanic that picked it up has tried to say no oil but i had it checked by 2 guys before he got it that say there was. so now they are trying to say prove that it had oil when it seized or no warranty. I'm trying to go through the head of suzuki australia but to no avail. the are pulling the motor down now to look for defects that would stop cooling/ lubrication.

Uh oh. Sounds like you've got a dealer that doesn't want the hassle.

Guess this is another reason to not buy 'new' things with warrantees.

Any chance you can get the two previous mechanics that looked at it to sign an affidavit there was oil in it ?  That would be the only thing I would know to do for leverage, besides parking your ass on the dealers' counter everyday.

Oh and there is always a good chance of getting it fixed if you park you and your dead bike with a huge "LEMON DEALER!!!" sign next to it at their main entrance. I don't know how aussie law works, but here in the states you can do that forever and kill their business.

I imagine that every model year has its share of DOAs.  If 10% of all 89's exploded in the first months, we wouldn't remember today.  The ones driving around today are obviously the well-built ones.

Some guy did that to a kia dealer, they offered him a replacement car but he said he didn't want their POS car and stayed there 

Dangerfox, I don't know what state you're in, but got to the department of fair trading and explain the problem to them. 

I'm in NSW. I had a word to suzuki and they say they can only take the word of the dealer having not examined the bike before hand. So now they are making the guy strip the bike and fully dismantle the engine to inspect what could of happened.

Ok, it probably wouldn't hurt to talk to the Department of fair trading to see what your rights are.
