Damn you got to it first.  Damn this is the equation for the amount he make a month (250 Argentine Peso = 89.03451 US Dollar )  That SUCKS.  No offense to him, but damn I think we have it pretty good over here compared to that.

from what pizzleboy posted i think he's saying he wants to know if the manule you have linked to on the site is the one that comes with bike, and also if you would buy it for him. Thats what i got out of it anyway.

[...] I have a 1996 GS 500 and I don't have an instruction manual from the factory.  I would like to know if the one you sell for $20 is this one or is the one [de despiece].  If it's the latter one I wouldn't be interested because I could [or did?] download it from the Internet.  On the other hand, please consider giving me a discount or sending me one for free, if it's not too much to ask, since [$20 is 1/4 of my monthly income].

============================

Sorry - I can't seem to find out what "de despiece" means!

But no matter what kind of manual he's looking for, I'm not sure how much he could get out of a manual printed in English....

Oh, and don't ask me to write any Spanish; it's hard enough work for me to read it!

So he's saying he's broke and wants GStwin to send him a manual?

So should we send this guy a Christmas gift?  It would probably cost $30 with shipping.  Or should we do some other random act of kindness?

I think it's it worthwhile to mention that Adrian's salary, while low, should be taken in context.  I was in Buenos Aires in December and here is quick run down of prices:
- 2-3 star hotel in downtown BsAs, with breakfast and private bath- $9 per night for two people
- All you can eat asado buffet at a decent restaurant (i.e. steak bbq) $3
- Drinks at a popular bar or disco, about $1

Fortunately, for many Argentines the price of consumer goods has come down in the aftermath of the 2001 financial crisis.  I lived in Buenos Aires for a while when the Argentine peso was pegged to the US dollar at 1 to 1.  Although this measure succeeded in controling inflation, it did so at the expense of the Argentine public, who witnessed a reduction in real wages as the costs of consumer goods remained relatively high.

The real tragedy is that  many people lost their life savings as a result of banks defaulting on IMF loans and the peso's subsequent depreciation.  I have since been back to Argentina and the difference is painfully noticiable.

Moto content - I found it interesting that BsAs is full of GS500s.  While not as numerous as Honda CG125s and scooters, the GS is still found parked all over the city.  In neighboring Chile, I saw one GS400, but not a single GS500.  But then the Chileans used to get all the really trick Japanese bikes until they banned used vehicle imports in the late 1990s.

Yes I have heard that about Argentina... and to a smaller extent Brazil. Cheap goods and low pay. Compare that to India... Huge disparity in income distribution, expensive goods and vast majority cannot afford anything, and the minority that can, pretty much keeps the price of goods from comming to where its accessible for the public. In Argentina's case it sucks to try to buy from the US, in India's case it sucks to buy anything if you dont have a few billion lying about...
Cool.

I would like to help him but I think I'm going to take a pass.

Would someone help draft a short appologetic response saying I wish I could help but I can't change prices on Amazon.com and don't have a spare manual to send.  Good luck and all that stuff.

Babelfish will hack it too much if I use it to make a response.
