what's wrong with going to a school in the states terry? can you not take your degree to UK and it still be of use to you? 

What's wrong with going to school in the states??  You mean aside from the fact that your average Baccalaureate degree is of absolutely no value??  Seriously, I've met so many people working menial jobs that have BS's, BA's even a few Masters.

The intent isn't to stay in the UK, I want to become educated in the UK because their educational system is significantly more focused on practical instruction than the American system.

I plan on coming back to the states after school with a more valuable education than could be achieved in the same amount of times state-side.

There are a lot of broad generalizations in your three paragraphs.  I'm not debating the value of a UK education (I know next to nothing about it), but I teach in higher education in the US and have taught in several states so I know a little bit about that.

My recommendations would be:
First, find someone who does what you want to do.  Ask them about their education AND about what schools they would recommend now.  Not all departments at any institution are equal in quality -- at my school we have a strong music department but there are others I privately wouldn't recommend.  At other schools in the region, the opposite is true.

Second, visit the schools you are interested in, meet the faculty members in the department (the ones you'll have classes with) and meet some of the students.  If your BS detector goes off, look elsewhere.  You'll eventually find a school that seems to fit you.  You might save a ton of money (or debt) and still get a great education.

Third, be careful of going to the UK.  I hear they have a lot of liberals there.   Seriously, if my relatives were not all here, I'd already live in Europe.  That part would be very cool.

I've actually done my research, I just didn't feel like going into detail about specific career plans.  Currently, my major is Geology because it's the only one I've found that I didn't hate and honestly the earning potential, even with a terminal degree, in Geology is jack f%$king shaZam!.  You can make more selling cars.  f%$king Kias at that.
I've found someone that does roughly what I want to do and they suggested this path.

As far as the finances, I've been speaking with the admissions director and we've discovered a solid dozen scholarships I would be eligible for based off of my current citizenship and my testing scores.  Most likely, I can get away with just having to out of pocket half of the first years tuition ( about 8k )

Oh damn it your not coming till Sept 08? Il be off flying jets somewhere by then! Il have to catch up with you on weekend leave!

I would think you would have to do a motorcycle license over here, since american's one is far too easy to pass.. but you can do your direct access license if your over 21 (possibly 25 by the time you get here) and since you've ridden already they will probably put you on 2 full day lessons with your test at the end.
