Windscreen

Got a National Cycles F-16 "Sport" windscreen way back when I picked up my bike. Never bothered to put it on until this winter. Just have to say...wow. Really makes a huge difference. Deflects the air off your chest and above your shoulders. Really noticeable above 50 mph. I just wish I had put it on before my cycle tour.

I feel the same way about my GS.  Everyday I ride the more and more I love it.  Screw everyone that puts it down.  It's not only a great first bike but also a great bike to for as long as you can.  Im actually thinking of getting a new set of tools so I can work on mine myself. :icon_razz:

As for the windshield I have only seen one or two that go with the faired GS. Do you know of any that will make a difference when riding or is the stock windshield on my 06 faired GS good enough? :dunno_white:

BTW your windshield makes your bike look that much better  8)

Nice looking screen you've found. I agree with you about getting the air off your chest, but keeping clean air over the helmet.

Are those SV mirrors ?

You've got a Sienna in the stable too, and I will be in need of a van type people mover soon.
How's the reliability ?
How's the gas milage ?
What year is it ?
Do you or the wife/girlfriend/whoever hate driving it ?
How many miles are on it BY YOU ?

Sorry, let's do in order:

I've never ridden a faired GS. I suspect the wind protection is at least as good, possibly better. There are "touring" windshields that provide more protection. I just wanted a small "sport" one. I like having air flow over my helmet, but the touring shields prevent this.

This one is a National Cycles F-16, Sport-style. Search for it on ebay, it ran be about $70 shipped. I am mixed on the looks...everyone tells me it looks better, but I'm a big fan of the UJM look so...poo.

Those are the standard mirrors from my 2000 GS...I think. I got my bike in 2006 so who knows? But, I'm pretty sure they are stock for my model year.

The other cars...not mine. This is a shared car-port outside my apartment :) I do drive a 1997 Ford Windstar minivan (parents, they never drive it and I drive ~2000 miles a year on it so I really don't feel like owning a car until after college).  It is OK...I guess. We have had many issues with the rotors warping which I think was covered under some kind of recall. Would not recommend this car overall though (the Windstar).

Agree about keeping the GS...so many things on it are so simple! Changing spark plugs...3 minutes. On the GSX-R, you have to remove the tank, remove the airbox, and remove the valve cover guard thing just to get to them...and then even use a spark plug socket to access. Adjusting (not just inspecting, adjusting!) valves...2 hours, probably less the more you practice. The GSX-R took me the better part of 6 hours to inspect, just with taking the fairings off and the carburetors and everything...what a pain. Ugh. I think the GS is a great bike to learn and practice bike maintenance on.
