Last year my son and I rode our Kawaski Nomad's for Californai to Buffalo. (See post Oxnard to Buffalo).  We learned a lot from the trip and now my son wanted to make the trip to Alaska this summer.  I think we are going to build (or maybe buy a trailer) to tow behind one of the bikes.  I already know one of the concerns if fuel.  A couple of years ago I rode back with my other son in his motorhome and know that everything shuts down early and that fuel will be hard to come after dark.  How hard are hotels to get without reservations?  We would like to ride until we are ready to quit for the day and not have to stop early for motel.  Any information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.  I'll check back often for feedback.  Thanks Randy

Hey that sounds like a blast ! Contact this guy for ideas about the area. He's done a few tens of metric tons traveling california.

He's likely cruising his hayabusa with 5-10 folks following somewhere in California today.

Pashnit is a great place to get information like this, I had a chance to ride with a Pashnit group in the fall, it was such a great ride up to Lockwood Valley and back to the Deer Lodge. I remember reading about your last trip, glad you posted again. I am up off HWY 33 near Shell Rd. Sounds like you have an awsome trip planned. Good luck :thumb:

What's the guy like ? I'm imagining a guy like 'the stig' on that European show Top Gear. I mean, as much as he tours, he can't have much time for small talk ;)

Got any shots of your tour ? I'm sure it was a blast.

I would have replied earlier but got caught up in the long weekend. The Pashnit guy haha his name is Tim, and he tours on a Hayabusa, I have meet him twice, once on a Southern California group ride and once at a Bike show. He is pretty down to earth, totally cool to newer riders. All the Pashnit people I have met have totally helped me with my riding and offer advice where needed. If you check out there website and look for SoCal group ride they have pics posted there. The socal group ride takes place twice a year, in the Spring and late fall. Last fall's ride, riders from Socal met up with riders from Northern Cal in Ojai. Lots of different bikes ranging from Triumphs to Hayabusas, from BMW GS 650's to Harleys. Everyone was just there to enjoy the ride. I totally recommend these types of rides because meeting people shows me there are no limits to two wheeled adventures and the friendships they build.

Cool. I've read a few summaries of his rides. Looks like allot of fun. Have you thought about a video or time lapse of your upcoming adventure  ?
