What a bummer, these guys are tremondous athletes and to be put off after all the time and training is a shame. Also the race earns a lot of money that benefits the people of these countries, the few really hurt the many. I wish peace was possible, but in my lifetime have have'nt seen it yet. Once again it is a real bummer.

This is sad.  On a funny note though, some guys in my old unit always joked about doing the dakar with an up-armored hummer and a Ma Duece up top.  That would certainly  be atleast a small deterent to any terrorists.

i know, i enjoy watching, and have taped it for teh last few years. this will be surely missed. i wonder tho in the future, if they could do say an around the world race similar to dakar?
