Hello everyone!

I haven't posted a pic of my bike yet, but that is because of the weather.

Anyway, Does any othe 'carb cleaners" like STP carb cleaner, and the otehrs work in our machines?  I mean as a preventative measure.

It seems that  most 'problems'  in the carb area have to do with cleaning.  Usually because of rust particles.  Just my opinion.   

Any thoughts?

 It can help.. Even clean your carbs to an extent..

additives such as Sea foam have preformed near miracles for some board members  :icon_mrgreen:

I don't see any harm in using it, but its no substitute for proper maintenance and occasional manual carb cleaning   :cheers:

Yes its got methanol or iso propyl alchohol, and the best part id, it will get the tank rusted faster, and get all that crap in the carbs quicker ...  :thumb: ...
Yea OK if yours tank is rust free 100% ... it can fix water and some gumming up fuel issues.

Everyone has their favorite magic bullet to 'fix' carbs. Most folks use wrenches and stuff, and leave the snake oil on the shelf. If you're storing yours for a while, stabil is what I'd recommend, as it's not promising anything other than to keep it from gumming up.

I've tried Seafoam just for the fun of it. It seemed to smooth things out a little. Most likely adjusting your valves, cleaning the air cleaner (if it's a K&N), changing the oil, cleaning and lubing the chain, and properly inflating the tires is the BEST way to make your ride smoother ;)

3 bottles of carb cleaner saved my arse out in the middle of the baron outback after topping up with a bad lot of fuel (this un-sniffable opal petrol they sell in northern Australia nearly killed my bike).

Sea Foam!!!  I it just worked one of those "miracle's " for me today. Ive been fighting with stalling and Dealer issuse's (long story) Even though i found and fixed the Dealers mistake (took 3 mos) she still wasnt running right, hard to start, stumbly when crusing then going wide open from 3k to about 6.5k. When Id start it would idle at 1k but as soon as i would touch the throttle it would die.I took the carbs/jets apart cleaned them 3 times, tested petcock valve, floats 3 times, sync'd them twice, 3 compression test's, Spark test's :dunno_white: I was about to buy all new carbs off ebay when i remembered that i had half a can of sea foam  thought "what the hell ,i never tried it in the bike before??? I warmed the bike then using a tee i crimped the fuel line and let it suck up the 6-8oz's turned it off, restarted after 5 mins it died about 10-12 times  I had to us the choke for 2-3 minutes. Finally after it coughed and died a few more times it ran like a "CHAMP" didnt give me 1 single problem, no stumble, no stall, nothing?? it even cut my warm up from 2-3 mins to 45-50 seconds.  :cookoo: Dosnt make sense!! but i dont care!! lol

Tell the truth, you hung a bell on your battery to keep the fairies away. The seafoam was -right- before that ;)

So that's a "No" on the Seafoam? I have a brand new bottle sitting on the tool chest.  :laugh:

To touch my throttle before 3-4 minutes on choke and another couple off is instant engine off. This is in SoCal! Once it's warm and has run on the road a few minutes it's fine. More than 15 minutes sitting in a cold breeze on the top of a saddle ridge is another cold blooded start!

Its a YES  :thumb:  for a temporary/possible fix.  :thumb:

Seafoam shouldnt cause any irreparable harm to your GS.. use it in moderation  :thumb:

That's easy for YOU to say!  :laugh:  If it was a carb on a 1972 Datsun L-16 engine I might be fine...  :icon_mrgreen:
I was just gonna put some in the gas tank, not do the whole suck it directly into the carbs thing. So it likely won't do much good, but not much bad, either, I suppose.
