Last Monday (1/21/08), I was hoping to get some riding time in. The bad weather came in early. Here is some pictures from that chilly ride home.

The front of my bike. Yes ice.

Better look at the wind shield.

The ice frozen to my jacket.

Awright!  Join the club! :thumb:

The last time that happened to me, I was riding (200 miles) home from Moab, UT.  With about 80 miles to go (after dark) I started up "the big hill" outside Helper.  Almost immediately I had to concentrate on staying in one of the tracks made by the car in front of me, in the inches-deep snow.   :cookoo:  It was a nerve-racking 8 miles up and another 10 miles over the plateau to the summit (7440 feet).  I noticed as we went down the other side that the ice on my windshield was melting, so I figured I wasn't going to die after all.  The next chance I got, I passed the car and gave them a big wave for helping me out.

OK ... all together now:

Me too!  All steering input had to be tiny and super smooth ... let's just say there were several "quick intake of breath" moments.  :o

Wow, you've got some great views out there huh ? I was just google mapping your route. Man, some elevation, cool turns, and ice just for kicks.

Got any pictures from around there ?

Not as many as I should.   You can see a few shots that I took on an earlier winter ride home from Moab on [this page].  They were all from the stretch along the Book Cliffs, between Green River and Wellington.

Another couple intra-Utah rides are listed on my homepage.  I need to add a couple more from old photos and notes.

You can find some other shots in these old threads:

    (Small) panoramas from yesterday's ride
Scenic shots from a recent ride
    Saturday Evening Ride
    "davipu" is alive and well....
    pic's from today

Sorry for the threadjack, whitewolf.  Don't forget to answer pandy's question!

No studs on tires. I drive 24 miles one way to work everyday. I was about 17miles from home going into the hilly area when the rain turned into the winter mix.

Be careful out there!

Northwest Arkansas has got THE roads for riding in the summer (hills and curves galore :thumb:) but that makes it all the more tricky in the winter.

Glad you made it home OK.

Kerry, just wanted to say you didn't hijack the thread as far as I am concerned. You just added to it.
My wife was reading over my shoulder last night and loved your input.
We went to the picture link and she loves your photos.

PS  I caught my grammar mistake as well and corrected. :nono:
