yea except for the fact that you cant ride the gs up like that for too long or else your engine will starve itself of oil.  Then your engine craps out and you have to resort to riding a pedal bike for a while..

Got one,a 44 tooth on my GS..except I'm using a 17 tooth up front. So I'm getting the same ratio as dropping a tooth on the front.Less strain on the chain.
I polished it out and it looks great...  :thumb: Pictures next month...when I get it all finished.
Well, either you're part of the problem, part of the solution,...

almost any bike will starve itself of oil in a high wheelie for extended periods (well cept for a 2 smoke)  a serious stunter is going to modify the oil pump/sump to keep this from happening.

Stunters (and some racers) tend to use dry-sump engines in their bikes............ thats something I have never seen done to a GS5...a dry-sump conversion.

Dunno.......... but where there is a will there is a way I suppose.............maybe fit K&Ns, ditch the airbox and use the space for an oiltank but altering the oil galleries and mounting and picking up a drive for the oilpumps would probably be a bigger issue.

OK, who's gonna try it?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I would, but I don't have a GS anymore and they make kits to convert GSX-R's............................................................

If the front sprocket were the same in both cases, the top speed would theoretically be 39/60 (or about 2/3) of the top speed with a 39-tooth sprocket.

thats so freakin cool.  I'd LOVE to be able to put that big a sprocket on a ninja 250 or something for fun.
looking for a new vehicle again.

gsJack

Theoretical top speed @ 11000 rpm redline in 6th gear for GS is 140 mph.  So 39/60x140 = 91 mph with stock front sprocket.  Should have enough power to pull that.    :thumb:

I have never heard of dry sumping anything ... the old (96-98 time frame) GSXR 750 wheelie videos were usually made with an extra 2 quarts of oil in the motor, you just warm the bike up well, and add in 2 extra quarts to a hot motor. When done, drain off the extra.
And Dry sump may not help, unless the oil pickup is on the rear wall of the motor ... in which case it wont work when normally riding. The oil pick up can reach the rear end of the pan, you just want it to have a bit higher oil level there with the bike lifted up 45 -75 degrees so the pump wont get too much air = cavitation.
No idea if the newer GSXR's or any other make/models are the same.
Cool.
