Well after years I have finally bought my first bike. It is a 93 GS500E with 68000 miles. I picked it up for $500 :flipoff:!!!!!!!!!!! All stock with very little rash and runs nice. I have never rode a motorcycle but I am now learning. I was wanting to know basic performance upgrades and stuff to do....I know I want to change the exhaust but I just want to see if I can get a little input from you guys about brands and what ot to do so I dont have to learn the hard way. Any input about anything would be nice.

Welcome to the nut house ! The re jetting section should be helpful. How about some pictures of this long toothed gs ? Close ups of the chain/cogs and other moving bits would be cool. I'd like to see how the rear cog is doing considering the miles on it. ;)

Enjoy the learning, it's a blast :D

Whew - so only 453 miles per year instead of 4,530.  For a second there, I thought your bike was going to give gsJack a run for his money!

learn your ride-than how to ride-than when your comfy with riding and have atleast 1k under your belt than go ahead and upgrade. no sense in putting money in a bike than endup not liking it.

So good gas helps....a lot! The gas that was in it was about 5 or 6 months old. But I went and put some gas treatment in there and some premium grade fuel and its a mojor change in the quality of the ride. I think it needs a good tune up and carb clean. Just need to learn how to do that.  haha
