for some new tires, i was looking at the Avon AV45/46 110/80-17 and 140/80-17.  I am kinda on a budget and i was trying to get some feedback on these if anyone else has some better suggestions with comperable prices

Jlittle

well i decided on getting them now searching for the cheapest place to get them. =D

lol, you only waited 18 minutes for advice. You must be eager to get them!!  :icon_mrgreen:

lol i did some research online from other people that used them and on the avon company.  yea i have no center tred left on my tires and this is my only mode of transportation lol

Jlittle

well i called around the area and for the pices i been able to fine the Avon AV45/46 a local dealer said he can get me Pirelli diablos for the same price.  Told me they are much better for the price

Diablo, Diablo Strada, or Diablo Corsa?

The Diablo Strada is their sport touring radial and would be the same type as the AV45/46.  Good balance of performance with tire life.  You would have to run a 150/70 rear in the Strada and possibly bend the brake torque rod a bit or maybe not, it's close.

The Diablo is their supersport tire and more performance oriented.  The Diablo Corsa is even more so.  Both would require using a 150/60 size.  Expect considerably less tire life with these.

The AV46 or Dunlop D205 are the only sport touring radials left in the 140/80 size which is a preferred fit on our 3.5" wheels.  The 150/70 and 150/60 tires are sized for 4.0" wheels but are used on the 3.5" with or without tire mfg approval.  I've used the 140/80 AV46, and the 150/70 Lasertec and RoadAttack radials.

he didnt specificly say, i asked him i thought they didnt have Diablos int he size i needed but he said he did.  Ill have to call and ask him on Monday which they are since his shop is currently closed.  How about thos Pirelli Demon sport touring tires?  Im looking for something reletivly sticky. I enjoy getting into those twisties alot.

Never tried the Demons myself but I used a pair of the Metzeler Lasertecs and they are very good tires almost like radials in performance but only last maybe 10k miles rather than maybe 13-14k miles the sport touring radials do.   The Demons are made by the same people and I'd expect them to be a bit stickier and the Lasertecs a bit longer lasting, hard to compare milage between different riders.  The Laseretec remains my all time favorite front tire for the GS500 due to it's even wear all the way down but unfortunately they cost as much as the radials.

If your on a budget don't overlook the Avon Roadrider bias tires which are about $30-40 per tire less than the AV45/46 radials.  I'm running them now and they meet my present needs at a budget price.  Tires I've used and milage:

im not really too worried about the milage, more of the stickyness. im willing to sacrifice milage for safty.

yea i agree. i figure ill be spending abit of money on them. i couldnt afford tires before but now that i sold my car i can.  The ones im using now are horrible wish i could take a pic.  I bought it used from a dealer and the pervious owner i guess didnt turn alot cause the middle of the tire was worn flat.  I was told that once i get these new tires on here cause im used to using these tires with such a bad flat line that it will be like a whole new bike cause the tires are round.  Yea i have always heard u cant go wrong with pirellis, also is using a 140 over a 130 gonna make a big diffrence in handling?
