Well my CX500 wasn't title-able so I bought another frame and swapped everything over...and did a little work here and there, mainly got all the lights and horn working so that I can pass inspection and get the machine registered...and then I'll have something to go get my license on (yeah I'm one of those guys who's been riding for 10 years without an "M" endorsement).

The bars look crazy...I just slapped them on to see how they'd feel reversed like that and it was comfy.  It's laid forward pretty good but it feels right to me.  I'll swap them out for some real clubman bars when I get an opportunity.  I really like my tail light...not digging my blinkers but I got to have them to pass inspection.  After that I'll probably bail on at least the fronts...I hate those amber ones, the red in the back look better.  I also need to find a new headlight assembly.  With all the wiring and everything in this one it's way too cramped and the headlight doesn't aim properly.

I'm going to be looking for another seat pan in the near future.  I want to cut it up so that I can make a solo seat and a cafe tail.  The idea is that I want a pillion ready seat and a solo tail that are directly swap-able.  I can't wait for that project to unfold...I think this bike will look pretty mean with one of those classic bumble bee tails.

I re-welded and painted the exhaust but I'm not sure if it's going back on the bike yet or not.  I may go back to some turn downs or something, not sure.  I miss the noise but I like the exhaust note through the dual straight cans...and I like the look.  Dunno yet.

I think the absolute BEST mod, though, to date, are the brand new steering head bearings.

So far on the list of things done are:

New steering head bearings
New lights
10mm wires
40mm forks (goldwing)
~progressive springs
~ghetto preload adjusters
~10w oil
~1/2" fork brace on the drawing boards at the machine shop
310mm floating rotor (B4)
2-piston caliper (SV1k)
5/8 Master cylinder (Hayabusa)
EBC pads
Michelin Stainless brake line
Uni-Filter Pods
Full one-off left exit exhaust

...Plus some other crap...just can't think of it right now.

I must admit I'm one of those guys that has been riding for almost 15 years without a mc liecense.Gonna take my test in the next couple months if I can get my bike up to standards. We don't have inspections here but the DMV inspects your bike before the riding test.

the camera just wasn't quite set up right...and that shop isn't good for pics (small, florescent lights, shiny crap everywhere).

I almost went and got her inspected but I had way too many last second things pop up and couldn't do it.  I'll have my license by the end of the week, though.

Oh and I have perforated stainless side covers...probably going to paint them black.  They'll be on soon.  I'll also be running a set of Posh performance shocks on the back.  I can't wait to start painting...

makenzie71

I dunno man...I can't tell you why you can't see the pics.  Does anyone else have a problem seeing them?  Try cut-n-pasting the URL.

ben2go

No problem here.

Speaking on the CX.I think they have a nice cafe racer look of the 50's and 60's.If I ever catch one at a good price and I got the money,it's mine.

Thats how I found the 3rd slash in the URL. I pulled the image properties so I could navigate straight to the photos.

Mak,do the CX bikes bring any money restored?I seen one sitting in a parking lot near me.It was either well taken care of or it had recently been restored. It was parked in the area where people sell autos, but it had no sale sign on it.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

makenzie71

no they don't really bring in a lot of money...mostly because no one knows what they are.  There are some hardcore "best bike ever" types out there, though, that will fork over good money for them but your average buyer is going to look at it like any other old bike.

ben2go

That's really to bad. There great little bikes.

That they are...only problem I've encountered is the whole 106mph thing...

makenzie71

A few more...

Full straight and legal, now!  I'm so proud of her!

My spiffy custom powdercoated perforated stainless sidecovers!

My new speedometer.  I've had it up to 65mph.  It's slow, though...I'd really like to get teh sensor moved closer to the hub because that will help it's processing speed but I may have to just deal with it.  As is it's pretty smooth and fluid in transition but all you see of it over the course of three seconds is "8mph....22mp....45mph...65mph...." then the magnet is moving too fast past the sensor to pick up a decent signal.  I may need a better magnet.  The one it came with wouldn't read past about 40mph and it was the shits getting it to read at all.  This one is an N48 neodymium .5" x .5" cylinder and it reads worlds different.  An N60 would probably make it even better.

List of new parts...or newish...powder coated fusebox/bar clamps, powder coated valve covers, crazy home-made pegs, and a B4 rotor that will be lightened.  Also on the "coming" list are a set of Posh shocks, powder coated swingarm and side stand, caliper hanger, fork brace (and hopefully a fender sometime), and a couple other miscellaneous odds.

ben2go

Sweet.
