haha I tell you I never got the bike inspected when I bought it in 04. I finally got it inspected in feb of 2007 when I went to help a fellow motorcycle friend when he got pulled and the cop wouldnt let him ride away, so I had to show up to assure the cop I was picking his bike up in my truck before they got a tow truck but when I got there the cop decided he wanted to take a look at the inspection sticker on my bike  which was dated somtime in 05. well its past feb 08 and I still havent got the bike inspected this year either. honestly it is a pain to schedual somthing with a motorcycle shop. for some reason motorcycle shops are super slow every where and don't understand that people actually have to work during their lax 4 day a week get off at 6pm schedual. last time I took it to a muffler shop that would do bikes and I was in and out in 5 mins so I might have to take a day off of work and do that again.

just to give you an idea of how slow shops are around here, I dropped my front forks off to have them re-sealed because I just didn't feel like doing it. they said they would have them back in a few days, so I called back in 3 days, they said they hadnt gotten around to them yet. so I gave them a week and a half and called again they said they hadnt gotten to them yet. so I waited till the end of the day and called them again and said look obviously you all are WAY to busy to do a 30 minute job so I will just come pick them up and do it myself. so I picked them up and did them myself in less than 30 minutes on my lunch break at work lol.

it is funny to have to take a bike to get inspected by someone who probly knows less about the bike than you do .

I don't understand the "you have to take it to a motorcycle shop" bs I get here in Lubbock when it comes to inspections.  Back home I just went to any old inspection station and got it done.  At any rate it is a pita to get an inspection done during the week but that is why they make weekends....I get mine done on the weekends.

I just got my CX inspected and the guy wanted to fail me for a bunch of shaZam! that isn't even required in Texas...be it shaZam! I should have but still not required.  I had to make two trips to get the thing done though because my brake lever had too much slack and I had no reflectors on it.

You don't have to have a motorcycle inspected by a motorcycle shop in Virginia. A normal inspection station (like a gas station), can I believe, decided whether or not to inspect motorcycles. When I bought my motorcycle from DC last fall, since I was a new rider I called my closest gas station/repair shop that that did inspections. I didn't really want to ride it too far as a new rider and without a inspection sticker. I asked if they would inspect a motorcycle.

They did, with the restriction that I had to stay with the bike. So I waited about 30 minutes and then went through a 10 minute inspection with me sitting on it. So I'm set until October. So if you're interested in getting it inspected, call around normal inspection locations.  :)

What are inspection stickers?  They cut that out in SC before I started driving.Damn I'm old.

I think safety inspections should be manditory. Our insurance premiums might go down.Well,in some states.

florida decided to repeal the inspection TAX because of rampant abuse and flat out inspection fraud. you could literally pull into a station, pay bubba $10 extra for a tank of gas and have a shiny new inspection sticker on the windshield when you left.

it's a crock, unless it's a REAL inspection, and that costs more than the state receives to DIY, so they are dropping it. sure, there are junkers on the road, but the state has something else to do. Ohhhh looks ! a nickel !!!!1

you eu guys likely have a real inspection, to go along with a real licensing program. must be nice :)

Inspection stickers?  You have such a thing?

If they did vehicle inspections in Illinois, every single farm truck would be banned from the road.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Same here more or less.
First inspection after 4 yrs then every 2nd yr, and not a long booking list, luckily.
Not cheap though, 75 € from this year. (was 40-50, don't remember)
And stiff fines if you don't comply and you're caught by LEO's...140-150 € fine and your registration card held (=can't drive/ride) until inspection. :nono:
No stickers on the outside, just a new one on your reg card every time.

we just get a Mot certificate. and i keep mine with my V5 and insurance details , but the cops here follow you and run ur plate and if u got nothing they'll give u a pull , or thye set up camaras that check every plate for tax and insurance , and then send Marked cars after you .

Its not bad , being if ur legal and covered , no reason to worry what so ever

The cops here aren't technically allowed to run your plate until you've committed a violation.

Jay_wolf

They have them mounted in every car , not only for evidence ,  so they can have your plate run ,

Police in this country love seing a break light out , or a tiny number plate, keeps the number up

considering 17 or so teenage have been killed for no reason in london last year for no reason , i think they have there ideas wrong
