So heres the plan, Its finally warm enough in the Garage  and outside to do some work.  Got quite a bit of dissassembly done today, until i ran into a small snag of missing tools to do the job right.  That bolt on the steering yolk is a big Buddha Loves You.  waiting to get to sears tomarrow to get the right piece.

heres the additions to the machine.  Kat Front end.  .90 Race Tech Springs.  obviously Clip ons, alredy has woodcraft rear sets.  14t going on tomarrow.  Custom seat being built with memory foam at its core.  gel on top of that.  Taking all the rear fairings off sanding and repainting.  Might do the same thing to the tank, adding some 3m film between the seat and the tank for sure.

So heres some pics as i Progressed, and more will follow. Enjoy!

Oh and Can anyone show me too a decent rebuild how too for the kat front end?  Someone sent me one way back but i cant find it.  Be much appreciated:D

Does anyone know what size that bolt is by the way?  Id rather not buy a ton of big ones when im not going to use em much.

I think the write up got deleted.

Anyway it's not hard. The GS forks have to have a special tool, the katana forks do not.The forks we deal with are the PRE 97 forks.Give him until tomorrow to respond. He has been elusive lately.BTW how does that jack work?Is it stable front to back with both wheels off the ground?Where did ya get it?Sorry for all the questions.I've only seen those used on lifts.

It works pretty good.  gotta put it up on the center stand to use it so it stay pretty stable I pulled both wheels a while back and changed out the tires and it stayd ther pretty well.  it works great for me.  I bought it on Ebay and its a china tool but it works well.  1000 pound max.  IF you take the exhaust off, it works event better.  but with the exhaust on you have to use the little frame lifters, and you have to put it on the center stand to get it under there.  but it works awesome.  I highly reccomend it.

hmm, if it were me doing this, i'd put some straps to the ceiling, because well, i'm me.

after 35 years on your planet, i have decided your gravity is set incorrect, and my equilibrium is not to blame for all my bumbles, slips, falls, and accidental bump overs. please adjust it. ;)

Dont need no stinkin straps! :D  Seems to do fine, plenty stable and ive been torqueing it pretty strong with some of the bolts and it hasnt moved.

Forks are in.  Clip-ons done,  Headlights on(pain in ass), Chucks Fork Brace. Polished the Top Tripple tree, which looks pimp.  Got the gauges mounted up.  ignition remounted, if you are switching it, just drill it out, way easier than the way the stupid manual says to do it.  i replaced it with some hex head bolts and locktited them.

Waiting on bolts to mount the rotor, then bleed the brakes.  front end will be done.

Put in a 14t sproket.  108 link chain and im still trying to get the master link clipped on.  Im about ready to beat it.
any body got a good trick for this???

Repainted the fork tubes for the moment, but the will probably be repainted properly when i get the chance.

LEDs for Guages on thier way as well.

almost done.  5 bolts and the fraking chain link a brake bleed and Im done.  it was 65 here today, i was going nuts not having a ride...

I'm hopefully going to buy a kat front end next weekend and I have a few questions. Did you remount the stock gs gages and headlight? If so, how did you go about that?

I remounted the stock guages.  it worked pretty well, not crazy about it.  ill probably be buying something that more follows the street fighter theme im going with.

I used the Hella Optilux lights for up front with stock mounts.  works and looks great.  now i just have to figure out how to hide all the wires.  Some sort of box or might just Tape em up.  havent decided yet.  but i highly recommend the lights they look sweet.
