Some time ago I replaced the gasket of the generator cover. In the process of replacing the gasket I had removed the generator coil to clean out the cover. I had to clean the cover because lots of pieces of the old gasket had fallen in when I scraped it off. I reinstalled the coil and retightened the 3 screws as good as possible (with a good screwdriver).

The problem is that I recently read that the screws normally have some form of locktite on them. I didn't see anything of that during the removal but...

Should i re-open everything and put some locktite on those screws?
I know I tightened them very well but is there a possibility they vibrate loose over time?

Has anyone (racers?) experienced this already  :?

I don't remember there being a gasket under that right-side cover on either my '96 or my '99.  Am I just goofed up?

Anyway, I have not used Loc-tite anywhere on my bike yet (I haven't gotten around to buying it), and after 28,000 miles I still haven't lost anything.  But if you won't need to get under that cover again anytime soon, and it will give you piece of mind, go ahead and apply some Loc-tite.  Just don't use the "heavy-duty" color...!
