Hardware store I just buy the 50 or 80 pair bulk packaage of aosafety soft faom plugs. I keep snack sized ziplock baggie full of them under the tail cowel on the bike.

Ought see me get em out for others on a ride looks like someones making a dope deal

we have two access points into my neighborhood the bacjyard backs up to a main city arterial street so lotsa traffic noise and bikes can be heard frequently.

coming in on that road the wife can hear my bike almost a mile before I reach the neighborhood turn in.
coming in on the main arterial cross road she can hear the bike about 3/4 of a mile away as I make my way through the neighborhood.

The garage door is always open when I pull into the drive and she says she's never mistaken another bike for the sound of mine :)
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

Congrats on your new ride! :thumb:
My workmate got a SS1000 last summer, full fairing.
Why don't ya go all the way and make it defaired? :)
It'd look sexy IMHO.

It's a shaZam! ton of work to hide all the wiring and move the components for a clean defaired look.  I've seen a few write ups on the Duc forum.

I gotta get her roadworthy (lights) so I can take her up to Charleston to learn how to do the valves, probably be next weekend.

OKZZZZ anyone wanna guess how much packing there was in the exhaust????  come on someone????

Nada, none, nothing

:icon_rolleyes:
I'm having a blast doing all the little TLC bits on this bike, soon I'll be figuring out all the fun things like how to light it up.

makenzie71

I'd say f%$k the stock light and pick up a couple bosche projectors...actually I've used cheap-o eBay civic projector lights to light up a bike.  Just cut the housing apart, drill two holes in your fairing, mount the projectos behind on brackets.  You can even use a HID setup on one (some states require a high and a low beam).

Exhausts don't need packing.

How many times did he wreck it before selling it to you?  The ass looks tweaked.

spc

The ass looks tweaked because that tail is not the solo tail for that bike.......think it's a 748 solo tail. It only meets up to bolt in in 2 places, I'm working out a bracket to get it smoothed out.

I'm thinking 2 small round lights on top of eachother true to Ducati tradition :dunno_white:

Exhaust may not need packing but it would be nice, the damn thing is louder than my neighbors '76 bored out vette with straight pipes.  A lot.

GeeP

Damn...  No seat!  Must be like riding a buckboard.  lol!

Not to be an elitist duck, but if you're spending lots of time in the seat, you're not riding her right. :icon_mrgreen:

Id *Monster* up that duc in a second, could u not hide all the wiring in a sv650 headlight or something , i did the frame , engine , exhausts and everthing , but the half faired look looks stupid in my eyes

:icon_rolleyes: Oh never mind, just ride the damn thing already and quit talking about it.

Glad I took my wife with me to the honda dealer today......

The new 08 1000rr is in. It feels exactly like sitting on and tossing around a 600, that shaZam!'s just scary....told the wife do not let me go to Honda dealership without her.

They offered me 5k in trade for my bike and I would get a fairly good deal since I have bought 3 bikes in the past 1 1/2 years from them.

damn i just cant afford to shoulder another 5.5k in debt right now need to refi the house before rates go back up and our loan converts to an arm.

Jay:  It's not just wiring, there are control modules on both sides on the outside of the frame just out of sight behind the fairing.  It would take lengthening a couple of harness and re-organizing what's already under the tank to make it work.  I've actually grown kinda fond of the half faired look, it's unique and still has lines while allowing the engine to be seen.  Yeah, the fairings are staying.

BP:  All the guys on the Duck board that have 848's say that the thing is insane.  It outperforms all the 9XX's in all aspects supposedly.  I'm waiting to read a 1098r review from one of em.........

spc

Yo Mak, you talkin about buying and ripping apart something like this for the lights???

makenzie71

since nothing showed up in your post....that I can see...

This is what I mean: clicky

This is better: clicky

99-00 Mercury cougar headlights are DOT approved, disassemble-able, and with one headlight you get a quality projector designed for high beam and a quality projector designed for low beam, and the low beam is very effective with a HID setup.

shaZam! I forgot to paste, rather essential part of 'cut and paste'.  Yeah, that's what I thought you were talking about.

So just rip the projectors out and mount them through circles cut in the fairing.....  I'm thinking 749 style.

Ok, on the headlights above...  Is the power supply integral to the headlight, or does that have to be scrounged separately?

*dumb idea*

spc

OK, I think I'm gonna build off Mak's idea but get a set of Hella Optilux projectors instead.
