I got really excited when I heard about the 599 because I am in lust with the 919. Then I saw the $7100 price tag.  For $200 more you can get a Bandit 1200.

For 500 less, you can get the new semi-naked Yamaha with a variant of the current generation R6 engine.  The 599 has the CBR F3 engine, not the F4i.  The yamaha has a trick underseat exhaust, too, and a nice fairing (in the US).  That may be my next ride (VStrom 650 also looks good)
www.fuzzymemory.com to launch this summer!

I am puting very serious thought into getting the new 04 R1 in March. Damn sexy, shaZam! loads of power, and it will fit me. (6'2" 230lbs)
Or I am maybe looking an older Triumph Daytona. Bunches cheaper, and still damn sexy.

Sportbilly

The realistic list...

In order of lust:

VFR 750/800.  Loooove the sound of the v-fours....
VTR1000.  See above, but insert "v-twins"
A newer GS500 here in the states to replace the one slowly rusting in a garage in NZ.

I have the ZR for touring, so I'm looking for something less, err, vanilla.
Sportbilly, Professional Slave, Amateur Alcoholic

"Oh, bother" said Pooh, slapping another magazine into his AK-47.

Bob Broussard

The 04 R1 looks pretty tasty. I like the thought of having 180 hp to toy with.
Not sure what I'm going to do with my 996 yet.
I could sell it. Trade it in on the R1. Or keep it and make it into a motogp lookalike. Checkout www.qbcarbon.com
One things for sure though. I will always have a GS500 to ride as well.

Something cheap    There's a nice VX800 I can get for $1500, so could do an even-up trade!

But really, the only problem I have with the GS is that it's fun up-to about 65mph.  Past 72mph and it bounces around.  If I want an enjoyable commute on the freeway, I have to stay in the right lane (seems less safe) or ride 75+ mph. Maybe it just needs a Spec2 windscreen and some cinderblocks to hold it down  :) .  Jack, it sounds like you ride around the country a bit... do you feel like a ping-pong ball on the freeway, or just keep to the 65mph. highways?
You cannot escape our master plan!

I have a Kat 750 that I am working on so that will be my next bike.  After that, I would either do some kind of streetfighter project err maybe restore an older bike ... a friend of mine has a '73 GT750 which could be an interesting (not exhilerating) ride.

my next bike is most likely going to be built by me. Staring with a rigid 250 tire drag style frame and a big bore s&s engine.  Completely custom.

Why would you want anything else?

vtlion

2001 YZF-R6, Micron Pipe, Stage1 Jet Kit installed, Gear-indicator, Fender-eliminator, flush front signals, a sweet little package that will soon be mine if the guy accepts my offer (which is less of an offer and more of an insult   :o  :P )  Oh well, maybe if I save up my pennies it will still the there in the spring.  But the R6 is an awesome bike... light and nimble with enough power to last me for years to come, and its riding position was very agreable for my 6'3" frame... much better than the Gixxer.  I think I'm falling in love with the R6.

It will give me the excuse to REALLY throw down on my '02 with the mods.
No time to wash the bike

the only reason I wouldn't get to yamaha's FZ6 is cause that fairing cost bookoos in insurance and at only 17 money is always a problem.  I can barely afford gas for my car so I ride when it's 30- degrees.  Don't get me wrong, its a bad azz bike and I love the underseat exhaust but it's just the cash.

1. If I hit the jackpot..this

2. If I win the lottery, Triumph Speed Triple

3. Reality bites,  Honda VFR800.... ;)
It is not good enough to say that we are trying our best. We must succeed in doing what is necessary.

Von Vester

Really want a ZRX-1200 or even an older 1100. Great naked bike looks, fat comfy seat, hang on acceleration and small bike handeling. Yummy.
Now I just gotta convince my wife.
As my Uncle Bilbo used to say, "It's a dangerous thing taking your motorcycle out of the garage. If you don't keep your wits about you there's no telling where you'll be swept off to."
