Hi all i am new to the forum , marc from leeds in the uk

I stripped down a gs500e and sprayed the frame and wheels black , as i took it apart i took a look in the engine and one of the magnets in the flywheel was shatered

I have another engine but the bottom end has gone so i need to swop the flywheels

How do i take out the flywheel as it just turns ?

Is there a tool i can get or any way of getting it of?

Read thru this thread. It will tell you one of many ways to do it. http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=13774.30

What he said...I was looking through that thread to find his solution while he posted. :thumb:  Anyway, here is the part where he explains how he loosened the bolt and his description of how he pulled the rotor is about five posts down from that.  Good luck!

Easiest way is to use one of these.........it has to have a M14x1.5 thread to fit the GS5 flywheel so you will have to ring around the bike shops to find one .......or a dealer/shop might hire you one if you leave a deposit,  or you could join a bike club (like mine) that has one in the tool bank and they might let you borrow it......To remove the flywheel retaining bolt, put the bike in gear and thread a piece of wood through the rear wheel and it will lock against the spoke and swingarm.

Why are things cheaper in the UK?Is it because China is closer?  :icon_confused:
