I always had trouble seeing the black w/ white text. This light blue is a lot easier to read, at least for me.

I'm color blind so black with white writing hurts my eyes.White is to bright asa a back ground.I can't see certain colors of blue and green as most others.I didn't know I was color blind until I went for my pilots medical exam.Now I know why I been arguing with people about green and blue.My mother and her coworkers argue with me about the color of my mother's car.The factory calls it aqua,I call it baby blue,my mother and her friends call it green.

I thought the pilot's medical exam was really strict (especially for vision); you can fly color blind?

At least in a Cessna, there's not a lot of color-coding.  I would think the emphasis would be on acuity rather than color determination.

Quite right.As long as you have good vision,good periferal vision,and can see basic colors you are good to fly.If you have contacts or eye glasses you must wear them while flying.I doubt you'd ever get in trouble,but I have been ramp checked by an FAA inspector.
