putting a 160/60/17 on rear and just wondering what you guys would recomend for a front tire size.  110/70/17 would be a little tall for the rear wouldn't it?  Could i go smaller and correct the speedometer some how?  Let me know guys, thanks.

I have a 110/70/17 on the front, an Avon Roadrider. Great tire.

A 150/60 rear tire is the same diameter approximately as the OEM 130/70 so your 160/60 will be taller than the OEM rear.  I'd probably go with the 110/70 front although you didn't say what tires you're using.

i would definitely recommend doing your research.  changing tire size will surely change the way the bike handles so you may want to make sure the tire improves handling and not mess it up or make it greasy

I use 140/80 rear and 120/80 front... avon st's great ride. !

I use 120/70 front , and 160/70 rear

The Azaro ST, they are good tires on the GS500, I used a 110/80 front and a 140/80 rear.  You must have a 110/80 or a 120/70 front.  They didn't make a 120/80 front.  Most of the ST's have been replaced by the new Storms but they still make the 110/80 and 140/80 size ST's that fit the GS.

What would be a good set up that front and rear that would be wider than stock. I ride with my Girlfriend alot and I want wider tires to help with balance and what have you. any ideas?

Does the 120/80 front correct speedometer accuracy any?

oppss sorry was at work, and did not notice my typo, yeah 110/80 front and 140/80 rear St's are great tires..... I bought a couple when they were going out of style sale

looking at upgrading rear to katana wheel eventually by end of summer, so Ill be on 150/160 pretty soon, when I run out of new rubber (2 more to go)

The 110/80 front tire cuts the approx 10% speedo error in half.  When I passed one of those radar carts that indicate your speed I would hold it right on 40 mph with the 110/70 oem size tire and it would indicate 36 mph every time.  With the 110/80 it shows 38 or 39 mph.  They are usually placed on 25-35 mph streets around here.
