Not to turn this thread into an index of world fuel prices, but... 1.10 GPB is 2.22 CAD, so you can all count yourselves extremely fortunate.

The plus side is that because most of it is tax, a jump in oil prices seems relatively minor. No, it's not much of a plus side.

I've been looking at my next bike (it'll be a while from now, but still, i can look :) )  and I've grown to really like the Honda VFR Interceptor.  For a long time, I thought I wanted a 600RR or something of the sort.

My buddy just got a 675 Daytona (blue), it's damn sexy, but i rode with him 150 or so miles and it was pretty brutal on him.  I figured out that i'll almost positively never take my bike to the track, so I might as well make it somewhat more comfortable on longer trips.  The VFR has pretty much everything I'd want (mostly cosmetics), single swing arm, under tail exhaust, faired, it's a little heavy at 530 lbs, and i don't like the linked brakes,  But I think it's a lot more practical, as far as bikes go.    I dunno, we'll see.

I just rode the last year of import ('7?) Honda 599 (Hornet) yesterday, OMG, I told the owner "get me off this thing now or you are going to be riding MY bike home to your garage..."! She actually really liked my bike, felt safer and more comfortable on it, and now is wishing she had the new  '08 baby Ninja. I said go get one (I'll ride your 599! ;D). It can't hurt to have 2 in the garage, she can afford it and has the room. Then when she feels she's "limited" on the Ninja, she can go get the bigger beast out and thrash (!) that! (It's got over twice the HP of the GS, but I guess that's not uncommon...)  ;)

Nah, I'm happy with my baby, she's a little rough around the edges in comparison, sort of like a Jeep compared to a Jag, but she's cheap to run and "easy" to work on, compared to a bike like that. But I have always loved Hondas. And I'd have to lower the sucker, I was just on my tiptoes on level ground, I hate having a short inseam.
2001~ OEM Flyscreen & Chin spoiler, Fenderectomy, Sonic Springs, '05 Katana 600 Shock, Yoshimura RS-3 Carbon Fiber can, stainless midpipe, custom brake pedal, K&N Lunch box, Rejet, 14t sprocket, Diamond links, Iridium plugs, Metzeler Lasertecs, Hella horn, "CF" levers, Chuck's Fork brace. I'm broke!

mmm, hornets. great looking, great ergos, big H stamp of approval. i'd rather have a f4i for long term reliability, but the hornets are good stuff. 919 even ? prettttty bikes.

maybe at some point after the move a hornet, f41, sv650 will find it's way home. for now it's penny pinchin and air travel :(

Yeah out in the sticks they rob you. There are cheaper places, but I really have to go out of my way to get to them. Not worth the time/fuel to get there.

On gas, the L.A. area is just at $4.  +- depending on brand and grade of gas, Malibu is getting closer to $5 for premium!

Yeah, 599, SV650 for a reliable bike, Monster for who cares? It's Secksy! The Monster is THE bike to have in Santa Monica. Lots of ladies riding them.
