How crazy are house prices?

I'm going to wait for the housing bubble to implode.  Not that I have any money to begin with...

There are some financial/realty analysts that are warning about the bubble bursting.  Some developers are making people sign contracts to keep the house for at least a year, so the people won't buy a house then immediately sell to make a profit.  Has the population near US cities doubled in the last 10 years?  No.  Then why are housing prices doubling, even as developers are building poorly constructed townhouses and McMansions like crazy?  Eventually, there will be a serious oversupply situation that has been aggravated by rampant speculation in real estate.  Oh, and that whole increasing credit load/bankruptcy rate trend that has been going on.

The Japanese got seriously screwed when their real estate bubble burst.  Bad bank loans and everything, investments going down the tubes.  And they still haven't recovered, although you wouldn't know it from the great cars and motorcycles they make!

What goes up must come down!

The kitchen ATM has been closed for business for a while now.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

OK, I'm getting into real estate.  There are several houses here listed a good deal over 10m...........10% realtors fees on that and I don't have to work for quite some time. :thumb:

I have always found it strange that if the price of bread falls, or new cars, sports shirts, tools, sweets, furniture etc etc that is a "good" thing.....when house prices fall it's a disaster.....go figure.

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??

It's a good thing for me, I'm looking to buy my first house in the next year or so.

Falling stock prices are a good thing too... time to buy more while prices are low

Phoenix market finally flopped!!
yup as for those people who spent WAY too much during that spike are now losing their ass , stupid people bought with an intrest only loan w/ 30year record apr lows like at 5.1 %, knowing damn well they would have to refinace after 2 years at whatever the market is like 7.25%.  Well guess what now their payment have jumped like 300-500 dollars per month and their crying for the Gov. to bail them out with our tax dollars, I DONT THINK SO!  Now the market in trouble and the banks are dropping prices like crazy, i am having a house built (2-story 1900 sf) for 125,000 with would have cost 230k-300k  this time last year. analist said this would happen but everyone got caught up in the hype they thought it would just keep going up.

Phoenix, try most of the west coast much of the NE, much of the midwest (thought that is more rust belt related than funky financing related), Florida and the hurricane zone as well as most cities in the rest of the world where speculation ran rampant.
Charlotte is ~ 2years behind, and the boom didn't start till the end of 04 and we expect that the flood will wash through here ~2010, till then the builders will be flooding the market.
Yea dumbasses, we need 5000 more houses here pronto, that must be why there is a for sale sign on every third house right surrounding your beautiful new vinyl megaplex, and 1/2 of those are REO. Yea all that = high demand.
I dont think you could have made this crap up if you were Stephen king.
Cool.
