The Vegas trip recap

Okay so yesterday I went for a ride with my motorcycle club. This was a ride from Irvine to Las Vegas and back, in ONE day.

Well I got to the meeting place a little late because I stayed up at a party the night before which resulted in me only getting about 3 hours of sleep before this ridiculously long drive. So to prepare I made sure to drink a nice strong cup of coffee and had a bagel. 3 other long distance riders showed up. We took the regular route most of the way up. And to keep me pumped I had music playing in my helmet, it was VH1's 100 greatest songs of the 80's  :D

Well while stopped in Barstow we decided to take a little detour and when we passed Baker we headed up the 127 north. That was a very undeveloped road. Not the kind you want to fall down on. If you compare concrete freeways to sandpaper it's something like 320 grit, well this road was more like 1 grit. To top that off the shoulder was just a gravel bed. So basically you had a gravel strewn very rough road. That's when a couple pickup trucks towing ridiculously oversized trailers loaded with off road toys well that truck threw, directly at my foot, a huge 4 inch sized rock that hit me right on my toe. So now I've got a swollen really hurt toe to deal with.

We made a right onto the Old Spanish trail highway, pretty long and flat road til the end, there it turns into a very challenging twisty for a couple miles. Again dangerously strewn with gravel. We then turned into the 160 west and into Vegas. Made it in time for brunch too. Well after that we suited up and parted ways, not before taking a pic at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign of course (picture on the way)

That of course isn't the only interesting part. On the way back I noticed a group of I don't want to call them classic cars, maybe old and junky halfway done projects. This rather large group of cars had the dubious honor of causing the most traffic on the way back. Everytime there was a traffic jam on the freeway you'd inevitably find that one of those cars in the group was broken down in the front of the jam grrr traffic. They caused me so much trouble because I was literally splitting lanes for 15 miles all because those pieces of junk shouldn't be on the road. only to speed up and face another jam 25 miles away again caused by another car in the group. To entertain myself on the slow down I decided to give high 5's and thumbs ups to the people who had their hands out of the window in boredom as well. They would all end up laughing as I sped away

All in all it was a good 700 mile journey for me, all done in one day. Tiring but satisfying knowing that the gs handled it without a single problem. Oh yeah the weather, it was hotter in LA than Vegas. I blame global warming.
