When people actually replied to this thread!  The usual suspects are nowhere to be seen, and the new people don't know to look over here.

I'm in! I've been practicing my mad skillz in the twisties!  :icon_lol:

In fact, I'm sweeping a n00b ride this Sunday that'll likely start at the Saratoga 76 station. There'll likely be at least 2 groups (B group and C group), possibly 3. I'll post up details if anyone's interested.  :icon_mrgreen:

It's a ride put on by a friend who happens to be on BARF.

A few of the guys who are doing these rides have lost friends in the past couple of weeks up in the hills, so they've added a n00b group, and we're trying to keep the young 'uns alive around here. All are welcome, even if you're "just" from GSTwin.  :flipoff: :kiss3:

Last week there were about 30 of us (3 groups, included 5 n00bs, plus the lead--my friend Shay..she rocks an FZ6--and a sweep, moi. I'll try to dig up a picture or two.  :icon_mrgreen:

I'm in, you're organizing it this time.

And, I'm going to the ride this coming Sunday the 20th (Barf).

It is also time to organize this year's memorial ride (Rich's).  Would you also organize this one, too, please?

You.  Pandy could certainly organize it, but...I know she has other things.

If I plan this out, I'm just going to do the loop*, and take Empire to Empire/Felton, through the 'Ewok forest' into Felton and then up 9 seaside.

*'The Loop': known to locals as meeting at Alice's at the top of 9 and 84, going down 84 towards La Honda, turning left onto Pesdcadero, up Pescadero to Gazo's Creek Rd., left on Hwy1, to lunch in Davenport (which we've never done after the big brunch at Alice's), then up Bonnie Doon, right onto Empire, left onto Empire/Felton road to Felton (Chevron gas station), up 9 to "Four Corners", and then if you still want to ride, across (boring) Hwy35 <yawn> back to Alice's (which, honestly, I'm not against, I'll just meet you at Alice's  ;) ).

I just don't want to lead all the time.  I would have to lead going down 84 to the left onto Pescadero, and from the stop sign at the top of Empire to the left onto Felton/Empire.

Also, if I remember correctly, we liked Page Mill, and there's still a Santa Cruz route, too.  And, If Bob comes, we need to remember he's coming from far away (south of Capitola!).

Anybody ever ride up Highway 36???
GS500E with a bunch of cool stuff!

I haven't.  It's a little too north for a day's ride.  It's northeast of Redding, CA, right?

Sort of.  The one I'm talking about is actually south west of redding.  The real fun part of highway 36.

Hi Bay Area folks!

I've been reading the site since I got my bike last Spring. Learned lots! It took many months to get the carb issues worked out before it could be ridden consistently, but it's all good now.

It'd be great to meet some local GS riders. I think I saw Pandy or Scratch about a week ago (Sunday, 18 May) at the corner of CA-9 and 236. Just a guess, based on the majestic purple ride I spotted. ;)

I'm also on the same campus as Sanjay. :thumb:

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. :)

It's EXTREMELY likely you DID see me there (I was there around that time), but it would have been on my majestic red SV650s...  :icon_lol: You probably saw scratch's purple beauty!  :icon_mrgreen:

Welcome to the Nuthouse! Are you going to join us on the 1st???

Thanks for the welcome!  :)

I don't know about the ride on the 1st, but I probably won't be able to make it. I have plans to be in SF the night before so the likelihood of me being awake and alert enough to ride the next morning is small. But could you post the details anyways? Things may change!

Also, I've never ridden as part of a group. Usually, I go out with a friend who's a really experienced rider; he (and his K1200S) take it easy on me.

Our rides are always n00b friendly!  Check out BARF (bayarearidersforum.com) too...there are always n00b friendly rides just about every weekend (and I often go on them....sometimes in the slower group...sometimes in the faster group...  :icon_twisted::icon_mrgreen:
