Try 4 more times, and then give in.   :thumb:

I usually (oh wait I'm married) tell them I'm looking for someone to hug, hold and kiss, holds hands and go to the movies with.

And if you ask them two more times, they'll usually give in. It's good to be persistent.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

For those of us who haven't had the oportunity to play this extensively with carborators, how far off was it initially?  if the gas height was an inch too high, how far off did the float have to be to cause that?

I would think that +/- 1mm would probably not cause too many problems, but I'm certainly no expert.  Might just come down to whether or not you think you can do any better...  it's kinda like tuning radio antennas (to pull from my ham radio experience).  You get the antenna as close to in tune as you can, and when it's as good as you can get it, that'll have to be good enough.

closer, of course, is always better....

but like I said.  I understand the principles, but haven't tried it in practice.  possibly should wait for someone more knowledgable to respond before putting it back on the bike.

Great news! I just saved a bundle on car insurance by switching to a motorcycle!

OK floats being 1/2 inch off will kill you... howcome gas wasn't leaking from that one... was the other 1/2 inch low...Anyway... It wont help you now but I usually connect a hose to the fuel inlet and blow into it, and start lifting the float. Where the one that is right stops letting air in... I set the wrong one also to close off air flow at that exact point. Less messy that using gas and the coolant overflow can... BTW Kerry is the best at making sure all the different hacks get documented and preserved and properly disseminated for the ones that need them. A pic is worth a 1000 words, especially if they are my words... cos most people go away more confused...
Cool.
