IS HORRIBLE!

I am so Fvcking Angry right now!  They say they're going to cover something under warranty, but they need my credit card info for verification, and they charge me anyway.  This was 5 weeks ago, and since then I have called and called, and they transfer my call, put me on hold, and offer me partial refunds for THEIR MISTAKE!

Should  have  gone with Windows (yes i said it). With windows you can work on your own computer. You work on your own bikes right? so why not the computer?

No, but really, sorry to hear about crazy Apple. My experience with all over the phone support is to 1. be really nice (call them by the name they give you), 2. keep bothering them, and if that doesnt work 3. Insist on speaking to their supervisor or someone higher than them.

Letters always work nicely too.

That's why I love Dell.

Me..."Our motherboard is fried and we don't know why." (kalee zapped it with ESD through the mouse)

Dell..."hmmmmm....lets see what we can do." (doorbell rings)

Tech dude..."Your new motherboard is here.  Let me install it right quick and we'll be on our way."

Three easy steps.

Vaio's are nice, pricey though. Except the FZ series, which is fairly reasonable.

Dude, I've never had to contact Apple Support :dunno_white:  I've had my Macbook well over a year and updated it myself and never had a problem.............ever.  If I did, I sure as hell wouldn't address the issue over the phonem I would bring it to an Apple store.

Oh Im not gonna get another PC..  I'm happy with my Mac computers, I'm just frustrated with the overseas support.   I'm fairly good with Macs and PCs, and I work in Technical Support for Garmin, IN THE UNITED STATES.  I had to contact their support because I ordered something from their website, and they sent me the wrong item, two times,  so I sent both items back and then they sent me the correct item , but charged my card $130.   This was over a month ago.  I've called them 4 times since, each call being about an hour in length, due to being put on hold, my call being transferred, and not being able to locate my account, even with the case number I gave them..

ive had macs which i liked , but i work on em myself. and MS when i called to activate XP, i had to get a string of numbers from an indian with a VERY poor understanding of the english language. ( took almost an hour  to get the number down correctly. but yeah dell kicks ass, and so does hp/compaq ( same experience as mak had with dell ppl).

i'm a bit skeptical of a "used" pc. who knows what's on it, what they've done to it. i'd persoanally rather buy new. hp/compaq make decent laptops. and i've allready stated i love my HP desktop.  but, until she mananges to land a job, we aren't getting any extras she wants. like the laptop, 2nd car, etc. i make enough to pay the bills, feed n clothe everyone but there's not much breathing room. glad i finally got a raise. only .50 cents but it helps a bit. i've applied for a transfer but not sure if i'll get it. if i do, i'll be working 10hr shifts thurs-sun.....and i'd get a $3.75 raise... guess we'll see what happens. oh, man. my last beer.....

can always reload the OS, on a mac even. to get rid of the pr0n and such, unless she likes that  but a used mac can be had for a song ,a pricey song but still.

Apple offers refurbished products in their online store.  I've seen 20" iMacs with 120gb hd, 2gb RAM, and a 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo go for $700 on there.  One of these days I'm going to cave and get a Macbook Pro off there.

Yama, if you build an Intel based Mac, you can run VMWare Fusion and drag your Windows Apps into OSX running them side by side with Mac Apps.  We do this at work because one of our inventory systems is only PC compatible.  The only problems we have are typical windows problems.

Interesting, because I've had terrible customer service from Dell and excellent from Apple.  In fact, it was Dell being bad that finally made me switch, and I've been happy with my Apple stuff ever since.  And while Apple does have good design, it doesn't mean there aren't some design flaws (like the recurring cracking of my Macbook wristpad from the magnetic latch).  Also their prices for comparable laptops from Dell aren't that different.  If you want a barebones machine though, it's tough to get cheap Apples.

But overall, I'm quite happy with Apple.  Good luck with the customer service issue.

I've experienced the same problem on mine, though it's the only problem I've had with any apple product.  My phone operates flawlessly and get pretty damn good battery life and even after a year and a half of abuse my Macbook's battery still lasts quite a while.
