Anybody have a Yosh carbon fiber exhaust??? If so, you like?

I'm looking for a used Yosh CF can with which to further empty my checking account and polish my t^rd,     does anyone here have one on their bike? I Photoshopped one onto a pic of mine, I think it would look nice with the included midpipe especially when I get the chin fairing on and cover more of the exhaust, as my GS is a dark yuchhy metallic blue (2001 I think they call it "Abyss Blue", yeah I think it's an abysmal color), so the CF is a better fit I think looks wise as = less polished SS or chrome, and aren't they quieter too? Then I could celebrate and get those tacky fake CF levers to match, since the black paint on mine keeps flaking off.

I emailed one seller for the outside dimension of the midpipe and he asked what kind of bike I had, so I said don't laugh, but it's a bomb proof GS500, and he said "Everyone has to start somewhere." LOL!

I love my bike, I just wish it was a 599.

CF sleeved cans are not any quiter than other sleeves but do have a mellower tone. I had a CF Yosh and then a CF M4 system on my TLR. They do require to be repacked every 10-15k. Lack of packing will damage the CF. I have a Micron CF can on the undertail on my 92, sounds sweet.

Common sense in not very common.

Cool, thanks so much for the feedback, repacking would be no problem, I like mellower too.  ;)

I looked at the CF TRS, but decided against it.  I think that style-wise it would better suited to the F model and that the stainless looks better on the E.  This is of course totally a personal opinion!  :)

The care instructions that come with the can suggests repacking the exhaust every 5000mi to avoid damage to the CF through heat causing the resin to break down.

CF is also significantly more expensive for what is essentially cosmetics (a third as much again) - which was also another factor in dissuading me.  When I got the stainless home and on the bike I was glad I didn't fork out for the fibre - I do think it would have looked out of place on a naked.

If someone has already got a CF TRS on an E and could post up a photo that would really help you make your decision.  :thumb:

As for noise - the restrictor that comes with the kit is great.  It totally gives you the option of a loud 'race-sounding' exhaust, or a more ear-friendly option.  With the baffle in the constant-rev riding is quiet and comfortable, and only hard acceleration elicits the sporty howl.  It sounds great both ways and it's fantastic to have both options available with a few turns of an allen key.  I can't see CF bringing much more to the party sound-wise.

Hi Phil, it is YOUR bike and it's gorgeous exhaust that has me drooling.   :icon_mrgreen:

Thanks for the input, I'm looking at scuffed and used on fleabay. I will likely be outbid on any of the CF anyway. As my bike doesn't have much shiney, I thought CF would look better, but then the midpipe would be shiny...  :dunno_white:

I Photoshopped a can on here, it's crappy perspective because I used LE instead of CS so didn't have the perspective tool, but I just wanted a quick idea. I wasn't going for perfect and seamless. But I didn't have a midpipe to put on.

That looks nice. I like the CF look and want to get one for my bike as well. Any sound clips for a CF yosh on a GS?

I'm not running an anti-cf jihad or anything - I guess one of the points I'm making is that you need to make the decision on looks and personal preference rather than sound.  The metal can with baffle is not obnoxious by any stretch of the imagination, so it really is down to style.

I'm not a chrome-head either.  I, too, have a black bike (05 colour), with black frame, black wheels, black caseguards, black mirrors and black handlebars.  The only areas of silver or shininess are the headlights, engine and aluminium bar-ends.  I do wonder if I had bought a black exhaust if it would have blended in to complete obscurity!   (I think your silver frame probably helps in that respect with a dark can)

I'm pretty impressed with your photoshopping, I doubt I would have spotted it as a fake.   :thumb:  I suspect that which ever way you decide you'll be pretty happy.  (also your picture reminds me how desperately I need to lop off some of my fender!  which method did you use on yours?)

One of the POs apparently just used a hacksaw on the fender, and left the signals kind of hanging. I took a dremel tool to it, cleaned it all up and evened it out, then drilled the side of the plastic tray under the seat and bolted the signals on directly. Also reworked the plate mount, it is different now too than that older pic, it's up higher and angled the other way, with the bottom edge further back, and looks better.

I got a CF Yosh can with a midpipe on fleabay, more than I wanted to pay but less than half price with shipping, but it's a mounted midpipe, not a spring clamp deal, which I don't like, and they cost more. I'm hoping fitment will not be too big of a deal, assuming it gets to me safely. If I can finish cleaning up the chin spoiler too, and paint the pipes, I'll have pics to put in the gallery in a couple of months!

And it wasn't the sound as much as I didn't want something that big that needed to be polished all the time, and I wanted something that looked a little stealthier.

Thanks, your bike is my inspiration!  ;)

I got an '04 RS3 oval, instead of the TRS tri-oval, but that's ok. I liked the soundclip of the RS3 on the GS on YouTube, and how it looks just fine. Also the mid pipe being smooth is preferable, I just need to find a muffler shop locally. There may be just enough that the chin spoiler will make for a nice transition. Plus the pipe is toned and I will likely leave it that way. I'll see how bad it looks in daylight when it gets here.

Now for some new levers and I'm prolly done with messing with it.

Nah.  :icon_mrgreen:

I have bought CF RS-3 for my 05 GS, but I´m waiting for the stainless pipes now.

That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!   :icon_mrgreen:

That CF looks really nice with your black bike and frame, and you have the silver wheels like I do. I think it looks better on yours than it will on mine. Have you figured out routing the pipe and mounting it to the can yet? I'd be curious how you do it. My mid pipe won't fit as is, but there may be some room to tweak it. I would like to keep the bigger pipe look, I think if I can get it hooked up to the collector it would look great. The one I linked to just has the skinny stock pipe welded to the can, there is another one on YouTube of a faired bike that has a really sharp bend going under the bike, but it's a bigger, chromed midpipe.

Please let me know if you come up with any good tricks!   ;)

yes, there is a way to tweak the midpipe  :thumb:  basically you just cut the midpipe after the collector and rotate vertically and weld back to the collector (no bending necessary to get the appropriate angle and clearance)

I don't have Yosh pipe, but had stock GSXR pipe and now I have Leo Vince. They all are similar size and mount in similar way.
here are some pics of my setup: (those are with GSXR pipe)

good luck with the Yosh pipe, I'm sure it will look and sound great.

I took out the midd-pipe and been driving it for years like that , after time ( 20 k kilometers ) its starts breaking up ( leaking and burns )  because I never refiled it  the sound is great not irritating on long runs.
other advantage it never gets HOT  I have my 12 year old daughter on the back all the time and jumping on and off don't worry about getting burned so unlike an rvs exhaust...

KaMel thanks! The pics and the video help a LOT, and that is a gorgeous bike, the LV can really suits it too. The gixxer can also looked good.  :thumb:

Here are some pics of the stainless Yosh TRS can on my '01 GS, so you can get an idea of how blingy it is.  To me, with the silver frame, it looks great.  With a charcoal or black frame, I would probably go with CF.

Also, the Yosh midpipe adapter is stainless while the rest of the GS exhaust is black.  Haven't decided how I'm going to do it, but I'm not a big fan of the current state.

those yosh pipes look huge on the GS

And your point is????     :dunno_white:

;)  Just kidding...  Yeah, but I don't mind, I want the sound. With my drilled stocker it is just loud and annoying, it's just a loud riding mower sound, I want it to sound more like a V twin,

sanjay, that was the Yosh I originally wanted, but with the dark flyscreen and the OEM chin spoiler which I'll paint to match once I have it patched and prepped, the bike looks "darker" than yours. You also have the chrome showing on your headlight, I don't, so it balances nicely bling wise, and your bike works nicely I think, except the stainless to black, which I'm hoping to avoid.  I'm hoping to slip a bigger pipe up just close enough to the rear edge of the chin to camoflage the change in the pipe. My mid pipe may end up being cut down to just a flange, then I would go black, but I don't really want the skinny stock pipe coming out of that bigger can. I think because the bike is lowered, a bigger pipe will set it off better, but I'll have to be careful with steep driveways and stuff, I would not want to crimp it!

Now finding someone to do the work and not mess it up... my Mom's accountant's son quit the business to build custom motos, but he's in Orange county and I'm in L.A...  I'm hoping he knows someone up this way.
