so i'm getting the gs painted.  i just can't stand those pink side stickers anymore, it's driving me crazy just knowing that people are watching me go by on this sweet looking ride with pink decals!  i thought a shiny black would look really sweet nice.  i think i'm getting a good deal;  what do you guys think about $250 for the entire bike (front fender, gas tank, and side fenders)? it'll be sanded down, primed, painted and a couple layers of clear coat.

That's not a bad deal. Around here in Dallas, it would be $450 for that job.

I want to do the same to my red w/ pink decalled bike haha

ok, cool.  it's a friend of a friend of mine.  it turns out that he's a professional car painter, and is pretty much just doing me a favor because of our mutual friend.  i just wanted to know how much of a favor he was actually doing.

I've got the same problem.  My bike is red with those damn pink stickers, but i'm going to paint the bike this winter.  Where are you going to get the new decals??  There is a place that can do custom decals here, but if you know of any premade one's that would be easier.  Thanks, jesse

Kawasaki Green!

It would be the coolest, seriously.

I am a friend of a friend of a bodyshop owner too, and he quoted me $250 also to sand and everything.

I am thinking Yamaha R6 Blue what U guys think?

$250 is a good deal. I also have (had! - the pink is long gone) the red w/pink bike (who the hell came up with that scheme and how did they sell so friggin' many? I bought my bike from a woman...maybe that's how?).

Anyhow, my local paint shops all quoted me between $500 and $800 to do the whole bike.

Your suzuki dealer will have - or can get the plain suzuki decals if you choose to put those back on.

Oh, and tenright - I'd go dark grey. In fact, I'm planning on it.

British racing green is the color that I am going with on my bike when I get it painted next.

My heart goes out to those with the Pink GS's. Horribly dated paint job and stickers on a bike that transcends trendiness. I let a couple of those go before i bought a black one. Matte Black is also very cool, see if your buddy will do the wheels as well!

Seems like dark greys, and silvers, and blacks are default colors for those who are trying to blot out ugly color schemes from their memories.  After a period of time, those non-colors can be boring to look at day after day.  If I'm paying for a professional application of paint, I want the result to be appealing to look at.  A rich color that'll give me a little boost when I walk out to the garage and lay my eyes on it.  I prefer the dark reds with metallic sparkle.  In some parts of the world, the GS500 has also come in some very attractive factory paint.

Dark doesn't necessarily mean flat. My bike hasn't been pink striped in many years - I stripped the perfect paint and stickers off for a spray can touch up job (looked pretty good actually). That tank eventually rusted from the inside out and I replaced it with a blue and silver '91 tank and painted the tail silver - also looked ok, but I don't really like any graphics.

I was planning on going midnight blue metallic with mine, but I bought a used gsxr fender to go with my gixxer front end and it was a really nice metallic grey. It really looked great with the black wheels and I decided that was the color I wanted. I think it makes the bike look tough. I also have a carbon look headlight fairing which will also look great with another dark color. Still considering the blue or maybe some dark blue accents over the grey. We'll see. I just bought a paint gun and am looking forward to playing with it.

PINK? Jeeeeeez pink, never seen that. Sounds like a good deal to me, I would pay double to be rid of PINK!

yeah i couldn't stand it.  everytime i rode it i swore i was getting nauseous.  i don't know where i'll get any decals from.  someone above posted that a suzuki dealer would have the stock ones, but i'm trying to look around for any other cool looking ones, but have no idea where to get them from.   i'm pretty excited to see how the bike turns out,  my other friend wants me to chrome the grab bar, what do you guys think?  a chrome grab bar and a shiny black body?  cool or too much??

mrslush50

those pink bikes look more than JetSkis than motorcycles.  Just awful!  whose idea was that?

JohNLA

I am very fond of the Saturn Black and silver color scheme of the 2002 GS but I am biased.
I think the orange and yellow ones look good as well.

Chrome 'n' blacks sounds OK to me, mine is standard "Candy Blue" and silver, gotta be blue for me it's become a tradition. A local dealer near here recently lost the Kwacker franchise and sold off four or five ER5s all in Gold which is not listed in UK catalogue so I guess they were unofficial imports. I did not fancy Gold at all but much to my surprise I have to say they looked pretty good, seeing as the ER5 is much uglier, in my humble oppinion, that the GS, it might look OK gold/black or gold/dark blue or even BRG.

I'm walking through what passes for Dover Town centre a couple of days ago and in a bike-bay there is a Suzi GSXR1100 in PINK! At first I thought why make a thing like that? but then again they managed to sell it perhaps between 92 and 96 there was a girlie market in 170 mph bikes.
