well i think the east coast valve adjustment set has been lost  i guess i'll have to go out and buy some.

You can change shims with a couple of screwdrivers.  I bought one of those tools from Motion Pro and it didn't work as well for me as the screwdriver did so I gave it to my son.

hmm thanks what about that to measure for clearance?

You can work in mm or inches, I use inches since I've been using inches for 75 years now.     Spec is .001-.003"

I use a feeler gage I picked up at Sears to measure, it had a .0015" minimum thickness blade that broke off and got lost so I use .002 thru .005" blades to measure.  If .002 won't go and I can turn the bucket with my finger tip I mark it .001" and go on to the next.  If tighter I change shim.
